Mark Wayne to lead worship at CCC
NISSWA — Mark Wayne will be at Christ Community Church, 24646 Hazelwood Dr., Nisswa, to lead worship at the 9 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. services Sunday.Mark Wayne is a steel guitar player from Tomahawk, Wis., who began playing guitar at 11 and steel guitar at 12 years old. He performed with country gospel group Harbor Lighthouse for seven years from 1999-2006.
Grace United Methodist Church 200 family garage and bake sale

MALMO — Mark Wayne from Tomahawk, Wis., will present a concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Malmo Evangelical Free Church.Wayne is a steel guitarist, vocalist and Johnny Cash impersonator. He started playing the steel guitar in 1983 after seeing his great-uncle play. From 1999 to 2006 he played the steel guitar with the country gospel group, Harbor Lighthouse.Malmo Church is located near the junction of Highways 47 and 18 on Highway 18 near the northeast corner of Lake Mille Lacs.
Vacation Bible school at Deerwood Baptist Church
DEERWOOD — Deerwood Baptist Church is holding its vacation Bible school from 6-8:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. The week begins with a family night on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and all children, parents, and grandparents are welcome. This year’s vacation Bible school theme is “Treasure Quest — Pursuing the Riches of Christ” with Bible classes, songs, games, crafts, puppets, skits and snacks. PandaMania VBS at Timberwood Church
Timberwood Church’s vacation Bible school will be July 11-14 for children ages four through fifth grade. The theme is PandaMania — Where God is Wild about You!Psalms 139 will come alive each night through the Jungle Jamboree Singers, Treetop Souvenir Stop, Fuel & Fellowship, Bamboo Blast Games, Chadders Movie Hut, and more.Each child will be assigned a crew, a small group rotation with 4-8 kids their own age, and an enthusiastic team leader who will navigate their crew through the PandaMania adventure. Pork dinner fundraiser planned
WALKER — The Community Church of Walker, UCC, on the corner of Highway 371 and Tianna Drive, is preparing for its pork dinner fundraiser to be held from 5-7 p.m. July 9 in the church’s fellowship hall. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for kids under 11. Tickets are available in the church office and from church members. Franciscan girls’ camp held
LITTLE FALLS — The Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls recently hosted a Franciscan Girls’ Camp with the theme “Dancing the Circle of Sacredness” focusing on Native American spirituality. Upon arrival 32 girls pitched their tents in Assisi Park and then selected a Native American name for their individual tents, followed by a sage blessing. The girls enjoyed eating around a camp fire and participated in a variety of theme-related activities which included painting T-shirts, journal decorating, presentations on self-esteem, prayer, dance, storytelling and interactive games. A highlight for many campers was the conversation with sisters and the sharing of their vocation stories.
St. Mathias church bazaar planned
ST. MATHIAS — The St. Mathias Catholic Church bazaar will be rain or shine on Sunday. Polka Mass will be at 10 a.m. All activities on the church grounds include a hamburger stand, beer garden, country store, kids’ games with prizes, teen games and adult games. There will be a raffle at 4 p.m. with $3,000 in prizes to be given away.Live music will be by Dale Dahmen and the Polka Beats.There will be a chicken and ham dinner served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Adults, $8; kids ages 5-12, $4.The church is located at 4529 County Road 121, Fort Ripley. Pine Grove Church of Christ gospel meetings planned
The Pine Grove Church of Christ is going to have gospel meetings present by Bobby Bush of Freed-Hardeman University.Meetings will start at 10 a.m. Sunday with the lesson “Value of One.” After the potluck on Sunday, the lesson “Is There a God?” will be given. “Blessed Assurance” will be the lesson at 7 p.m. Monday.
