Barbary Coast Dixieland Show Band to perform
NISSWA — The Barbary Coast Dixieland Show Band will be in concert at 7:30 p.m. July 30 at Lutheran Church of the Cross. The six members of the Dixieland Band have been together since 1967 and in 2001 were elected to the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame. They began playing for church services in 1984 and have participated in worship services throughout the nation. The church is located at 5064 County Road 12, Nisswa (Sportland Corners).
Outdoor gospel concert planned
MALMO — Malmo Free Church will host its local music artists’ night at 7 p.m. Saturday. There are many dedicated and talented people in this area that will bless and uplift you with a variety of musical talents. Malmo Free Church has gathered soloists and musical groups from all over the area to come and share their gifts with you. Due to the sound system this concert will be inside the air-conditioned church. Refreshments will be available and a free will offering will be received. Malmo Church is located near the junction of Highways 47 and 18 on Highway 18 near the northeast corner of Lake Mille Lacs.
PandaMania VBS planned
PEQUOT LAKES — Grace United Methodist Church of Pequot Lakes will host PandaMania vacation Bible school from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 1-4. Kindergarten through fifth grade children will learn that “God is Wild About Us” and about the Chinese culture through crafts, music, foods, games and videos. Preschoolers attending will require the presence of a parent/guardian. Older teens are welcome to attend and assist with children.
This year’s mission is providing mosquito netting for children in African countries.
Each child should bring an old adult size white dress shirt and a solid color men’s tie to be made into a karate uniform for the week. Children should also bring a pillow and solid color pillowcase to be left at the church for the week that will be used for kneeling and praying.
There is no fee to attend, but freewill offerings will be used toward the VBS mosquito netting mission. Parents can register their children by calling 568-5755 between 9 a.m. and noon Monday through Friday or by signing up on the registration sheet in the narthex of Grace UMC.
Grace UMC is located 1.7 miles south of the stoplights in Pequot Lakes on Highway 371.
Taize Prayer planned
LITTLE FALLS — The Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls invite the public to join them for Taize Prayer on from 6-7 p.m. Aug. 4 in the Gathering Space at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls. Gather for an hour of prayer to experience Christ’s presence. Encounter the mystery of God through the beauty of simplicity. Allow yourself to be open and receptive and let the prayers permeate your mind. Hear scripture readings, prayer petitions and songs initiated by a song leader. Relax deeply and healing and transformation happens. The prayer of Jesus “that all may be one” is your special invitation to come. People of all faith traditions are welcome. All Saints Summer Splash event planned July 29
The All Saints Summer Splash event — with proceeds going to the building fund for All Saints Catholic Church — is planned to start at 6 p.m. July 29 at the Legacy at Cragun’s.
Social hour and raffles begin at 6 p.m. with a silent auction. The dinner is 6:30-8 p.m. with drawings at 8:30 p.m.
Dinner includes keg beer, wine, pop, all-you-can-eat grilled burgers and brats. Exclusive raffle items of half-carat diamond earrings and a Browning BPS Shotgun package are planned.
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door.

AngelFood order deadline
The deadline for ordering from the July AngelFood menu at First Lutheran Church, 424 South Eighth St., Brainerd, is at 4 p.m. Friday. Online orders will still be accepted until 11 p.m. Sunday. Vacation Bible school at Trinity Lutheran in Brainerd
PandaMania is the theme for the 2011 vacation Bible school at Trinity in Brainerd. The week-long adventure is scheduled for Aug. 8-12 from 9 a.m. to noon. Registration for kids 4 years of age through fifth grade is open through Aug. 8 and the registration fee is only $20.
Throughout the week kids will enter a bamboo jungle and discover that God is wild about them as they experience new friends, crafts, games, music, treats and Bible stories. Panda Pete will visit throughout the week and we will all learn to watch for God sightings around us. VBS will end with a Rowdy Wrap-up at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 12.

Trinity to sponsor trip to Plymouth Playhouse
Trinity Lutheran Church of Brainerd is sponsoring a trip to the Plymouth Playhouse to see the Church Basement Women present “A Mighty Fortress (is our basement).” The bus trip is set for Aug. 25.
The coach bus will load at 7:45 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran parking lot and depart at 8 a.m. The cost of the trip is $50 each which includes the ticket, transportation and lunch at 11 a.m. at the Old Country Buffet. The bus will return between 6-7p.m. to the parking lot.
Interested community persons are invited to attend. Tickets for the event may be reserved by calling Joe at Trinity Lutheran at 829-5147 or by stopping by the church at 1420 South Sixth Street. Deadline for reservations is Aug. 3.
