‘Modern Family’ at First Congregational United Church of Christ
“Modern Family,” the popular ABC television series, will foster discussion on healthy family functioning in the Family Wellness Project beginning this fall at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Brainerd. Parents and children will meet together for mini-lectures, skits, exercises, and watch an episode of “Modern Family” as a case study. The focus will be on how families adapt to stressful or challenging situations, connect, change, and grow.
While not specifically a religious curriculum, the project is based on the assumption that love is at the core of the Gospel message, and that children learn about love through their family experience. Family life during childhood influences a person’s ability to be in healthy relationships with others throughout life. The best thing a parent can do to help a child form healthy, loving relationships is to better understand how a healthy family functions.
Family Wellness Project sessions will be held on the third Sunday of the month 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. beginning in September and continuing through May. Leadership will be provided by Dr. David Crum, an ordained Pastoral Counselor with 30 years experience in Family Systems Theory and practice.
If you are interested in participating, call Dr. Crum, (218) 330-3168 for more information and registration. There is no charge for the sessions.
