Financial Peace University at CCC

NISSWA — Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University will be offered on Wednesdays at Christ Community Church from 6-7:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 11, 2012. The 12-session course will run until April 25 with a few breaks for Ash Wednesday, spring break and holy week. Contact Christ Community Church at 963-2626 to register for the course.

Christmas Eve services

Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Church will celebrate Christmas Eve with a candlelight service at 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday with a caroling service at 10 a.m. There will be no adult Bible study or Sunday school.

Christmas at Community Alliance

GARRISON — Two Christmas services at Community Alliance Church of Garrison will be observed. “A Gift Worth Opening,” will be 5 p.m. Saturday. “What’s in a Name?” will be 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Names are important. The baby born in Bethlehem was given the name Jesus. It is a wonderful name – it is the best name.

Candlelight service of Lessons and Carols

First Congregational United Church of Christ will hold a Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols on Christmas Eve at 5 p.m. In addition to the carols, the adult choir, under the direction of Jim Grimes, will sing selections from “The Messiah.”

Christmas services at Lord of Life

BAXTER — Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Baxter will observe the following schedule of services during the week of Christmas: Christmas Eve candlelight services, Saturday, 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m.; Wednesday after Christmas, 6 p.m.; New Year’s Day worship, Sunday, 10 a.m.

The normal worship and activity schedule will resume after New Year’s Day. That schedule includes Sunday worship at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. and Wednesday worship at 6 p.m.

Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church Christmas services

Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, ELCA, will have three Christmas Eve candlelight worship services on Saturday: 3:30 p.m., 5 p.m., and 11 p.m. All services will include Holy Communion and there will be special music by the Bell Choir and Senior Choir at the first two services. Time correction on St. Paul’s Christmas Eve service

The Christmas Eve service at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church will be at 4 p.m. Saturday. It will be a service of Lessons and Carols with Holy Eucharist.

College Preparatory Music Theory classes

LITTLE FALLS — St. Francis Music Center, Little Falls, will offer college prep music theory classes on Monday evenings from 7-9 p.m., beginning Jan. 9, 2012. The classes will be taught by Celo V’ec and are open to the public. The classes will be free, although each student will be responsible for obtaining their own text book and work book. Classes are open to high school students and adults.

College prep music theory prepares students for the Advanced Placement Exam and for music-theory placement exams given to music majors in many colleges and conservatories. Any high school student considering a music major or minor in college should consider taking this class. Several students who have completed this course were able to test out of the beginning semesters of theory in college. Music theory is also excellent for any musician or songwriter to open your ears to deeper musical understanding and enhance your playing skills.

Christmas services at Crosslake Christian A/G

CROSSLAKE — Crosslake Christian A/G will have a Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m. and a Christmas Day service at 10:45 a.m. Both will feature special music and an inspirational message by Pastor Gary Espeseth. Call 692-4673 for more info.

First Lutheran Church services

First Lutheran Church, 424 S. Eighth St., Brainerd, will have four candlelight worship services with Holy Communion Saturday at 2:30 p.m., 4 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. The 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. services are geared more toward families.

On Sunday, there will be one worship service and Holy Communion at 10 a.m.

Note there will be no worship service on Wednesday at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd. The regular Wednesday worship service schedule will resume at 6 p.m. Jan. 4. Confirmation classes will also resume on Jan. 4, 2012.

Year-end prayer opportunities

The Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls invite you to join them in these year-end prayers for world peace opportunities: A 24-hour vigil of prayer and fast will be 6 p.m. Dec. 30 until 6 p.m. Dec. 31. Sign-up for an hour to pray for world peace and reconciliation during this 24-hour period. This hour of prayer could take place in your church, your home or any place where you can pray. Persons 65+ are not encouraged to fast from food. Decide for yourself what form your fasting will take. First Presbyterian Church Christmas Eve service

The First Presbyterian Church of Brainerd will present its Christmas Eve candlelight service at 5 p.m. Saturday. There will be the singing of carols with narration and instrumental and vocal music and a meditation by Bud Larsen, Wycliffe consultant.

Prince of Peace church services

The Prince of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church Christmas Eve service will be 5 p.m. Saturday with the nativity of our Lord and Holy Communion.

Christmas Day services with Holy Communion will be 9 a.m. There will be no Sunday school or adult Bible class.

The church is located at 6311 Mildred Road, Baxter.

Bethel Lutheran Church services

Bethel Lutheran Church of South Long Lake will have a candlelight service 5 p.m. Saturday. The sacrament of Holy Communion will also be celebrated.

There will be no church service or Sunday school classes on Sunday. Regular church services at 9 a.m. will resume on Jan. 1, 2012. Sunday school classes will begin again on Jan. 8. Bethel is located at the intersection of Thompson Road and Five Mile Road.
