Minnesota Teen Challenge is awesome
Brainerd MN 506 James St. / PO Box 974 56401

This past Sunday our congregation was overwhelmingly blessed by the Minnesota Teen Challenge Choir. The testimonies shared and the music presented by these men confirmed for me once again that God is present in our midst and still performing wondrous miracles.

I wonder how many people in our community are aware of the ministry that is happening at the Central Minnesota Campus of MN Teen Challenge. We are very fortunate to have this facility here in Brainerd. When we were chosen as the site for the expansion of MNTC we were not the only location under consideration. Thanks be to God that they ended up here!

MN Teen Challenge is part of a world-wide organization that is one of the most successful recovery programs for people struggling with any number of addictions that are destroying their lives. Locally the residential program serves adult men. We now also have an out-patient program available through the Brainerd campus for both men and women.

As a pastor who works with and counsels many people, I find that I am occasionally confronted with addictive behavior and the mayhem that results in the lives of the addicted individuals and their families. I am so grateful that we have a resource like Teen Challenge in our community. Because of Teen Challenge I can give a message of hope to people who are defeated and despairing in their present circumstances. I have witnessed the life-transforming power of God at work through Teen Challenge.

Isaiah the prophet wrote: “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners; to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord” (Isaiah 61:1-2a NASB). Jesus read these words to the synagogue in Nazareth as He began His ministry. Today I can see that Teen Challenge is a continuation of Jesus’ ministry for they are indeed doing the work that Isaiah described.

I am thankful for the staff and the multitude of local volunteers who daily invest themselves in the lives of men (and women) through Teen Challenge. Broken lives and battered people are being restored every day right here in our midst. If you or someone you know needs help, don’t be afraid to contact Teen Challenge.

Also, if your congregation has not had the opportunity to experience what my congregation received last Sunday…well, what are you waiting for? Tell your pastor or worship leaders to call Teen Challenge and schedule a visit from the Teen Challenge Choir. See the miracle for yourself. You will not be disappointed. There are very few events that have the impact on our churches and our people in the way this one does. They are right here in our backyard. Take advantage of this awesome ministry for the sake of your church, to the glory of God!
