Brainerd Christian Women’s Connection
The Brainerd Christian Women’s Connection invites women of all ages to a Welcome Back Spring luncheon from 12:15 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Brainerd Hotel.
Shelley Boser, the garden center manager for Landsburg Landscape Nursery, will tell how annuals can add color to our yards and will give us gardening tips and information on new garden products for 2012. Sue Nelson will provide music for us. Our speaker, Heidi Studer, will share how a few particular moments transformed her life, in “Defining Moments: History in the Making.”
Free child care is available at a church located near the luncheon.

Easter services scheduled at Trinity
Three services will be held on Easter Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd. Pastor Dave Holte will be preaching at all three services on the theme “The Alarming News of Easter.”
The Sunrise service with Holy Communion will begin at 6:30 a.m. Special music will be provided by Jillian Anderson.
There will be two Festival traditional worship services with Holy Communion at 8:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Special music will be provided by the TLC Singers and the Trinity Brass Ensemble..
An Easter breakfast will be held in the Fellowship Hall from 7:30-10:45 a.m. served by the Trinity Youth to raise funds for their trip to the National Youth Gathering in New Orleans this summer.

Holy Week at Bethlehem Lutheran

A Holocaust presentation at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church
PEQUOT LAKES — There will be a Holocaust presentation at 1 p.m. Thursday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Pequot Lakes. The program is prepared and presented by Larry Tilleman and Gerry Boe. The program is about their Holocaust experiences during the WWII war crime trials at Dachau and Nuremburg.
Sixty-five years ago, Tilleman was a typewriter clerk for the U.S. Third Army and typed the data at the war crime trials at Dachau and Nuremberg.
Currently, Tilleman is the last living typist for the trials. As he turns 85, he is determined to never let people forget the terrible things that happened during the Holocaust. This is why he and Gerry prepared this very emotional presentation. Gerry Boe, now residing in Crosslake, was a guard at the Nuremburg war crime trials.

PEQUOT LAKES — Grace United Methodist Church of Pequot Lakes will host an Easter egg hunt following Sunday school on Sunday. Area families are invited to join in the Easter festivities at Grace UMC. SonRise service begins at 7:30 a.m., followed by a youth-sponsored Easter breakfast. Celebration service begins at 9 a.m. with Sunday school children performing their bells. Children pre-K through sixth grade will be dismissed for Sunday school at 9:15 a.m. At 10 a.m. following the service, toddler through elementary age children who participated in Sunday school may participate in the Egg hunt and bounce house.
Parents of children attending are asked to bring one dozen filled eggs (candy, coins, etc.) and deposit in the Narthex prior to the 9 a.m. Easter service. Children should bring an Easter basket.
Grace UMC is located 1.8 miles south of the lights in Pequot Lakes.

Good Friday services at Emily United Methodist Church will be 1 p.m. Friday.
Good Friday Ecumenical services at First Lutheran Church, Emily, and Pine River United Methodist Church, Pine River, will be 7 p.m. Friday.
Easter worship services at Emily United Methodist Church will be 8:45 a.m. Sunday.
Easter worship services will be 11 a.m. Sunday at Pine River United Methodist Church.
Meet, greet and eat event in Crosslake
CROSSLAKE — Crosslake Presbyterian Church will host a meet, greet and eat event with composer Rick Sowash 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. He will be discussing his commissioned piece, “North Country Suite.” This suite will be performed at the Heartland Symphony Concerts, April 14-15.
Sowash, an Ohio native, is a prolific and internationally renowned composer and is known also as a very informative and entertaining speaker.
There will be a potluck supper at 6:15 p.m. and an informal question and answer period after the discussion. If you wish, bring a salad or dessert to share.

Easter services at Faith Baptist
Everyone is invited to celebrate Easter at Faith Baptist Church in Brainerd. We will have a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. Sunday morning activities will begin at 8 a.m. with our youth group leading in a special Sonrise service. Following the youth-led service will be an Easter breakfast at 9 a.m. Following breakfast at 10 a.m. we will join in celebrating the joy of our risen Lord. The Church On The Wise Road is offering a Good Friday service in southern country gospel style at 7 p.m. Friday. The church is located one mile north of Brainerd on County Road 3, then 1/4 mile west on CR 49 (Wise Road).
Men’s breakfast and Bible study at CCC
NISSWA — Christ Community Church, 24646 Hazelwood Drive, Nisswa, will be having a men’s breakfast and Bible study from 7:30-9 a.m. Saturday. They will be looking at the book of John.
First Lutheran Church activities
Good Friday service will be held at First Lutheran Church, 424 S. Eighth, Brainerd, at 7 p.m. Friday. This service tells of Jesus’ trial, suffering and death and helps us to realize the extent of his love and sacrifice for us.
An Easter egg hunt for children age 1 to fourth grade will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church, Brainerd. Participants are asked to bring a basket and to dress appropriately for the weather. Activities will also include arts and crafts, an Easter devotion and more.
Three services will be offered on Sunday at First Lutheran Church to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection and triumph over sin and death. A sunrise service will be 6:30 a.m. and trumpets will sound out jubilation at the services at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. An Easter breakfast will be served from 7:30-10:15 a.m.
Note the First Lutheran Church office will be closed on Monday. On Wednesday, church services return to 6 p.m. There will be no confirmation classes on Wednesday. Confirmation classes and normal Wednesday activities will resume on April 18.
Bethel Lutheran Easter services
Bethel Lutheran of South Long Lake will continue the Lenten season with a service Friday beginning at 6 p.m. with the youth serving a sloppy joe supper. The Good Friday church service will follow at 7 p.m.
The sunrise Easter Sunday service will begin at 6:30 a.m. followed by Easter breakfast. The second service will be at 9 a.m. Holy Communion will be served at both services. Bethel is located at the intersections of Five Mile and Thompson roads.
Oak Street Chapel pancake breakfast
Oak Street Chapel will have an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon April 14 at 523 11th St. SE, Brainerd. Cost is $5 per person. Menu available.
Prince of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church activities
A Good Friday Tenebrae service will be 7:30 p.m. Friday at Prince of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church.
“New Songs of Celebration Render,” a celebration of the resurrection of the risen Christ, featuring trumpet, French horn, voice and organ, will be 3 p.m. April 15 at Prince of Peace, 6311 Mildred Rd., Baxter. The concert will include pieces by Handel, Mozart and Charpentier, as well as familiar Easter hymns.
Gayle Mortensen, organist, Bruce Thompson, vocalist, Jonathan Rusnak, trumpet, and Julie Rusnak, French horn, will perform.
