God is always good
It can be overwhelming to think about all of the things that are expected of us every day. We live in a culture where everyone expects something of us. On top of that, how you are viewed is often determined by what you do.
It can be refreshing to find those relationships in where you are accepted based not on what you do, but who you are. That is why I appreciate my wife Cindy so much. Yes, I am sure I disappoint her many times. However, I know at the end of the day that her love for me is unconditional. We are each other’s best friend. Now we do have our moments (some might even call these arguments) like any couple, but after 25 years together I am totally confident in her love for me and my love for her — warts and all.
So what about God? How do you think God looks at you? Well, the awesome thing about God is that you don’t have to prove to him who you are, because he already knows everything about you. Yikes! It really doesn’t do us any good to try to put on a show for God because he knows what we are really like — more than any other person. Now, you may have already believed this about God, but I think there is something you my not know about God. God actually likes you.
We know that God does more than like you, he loves you. In the pages of the Bible we learn that God created us and called us good. When we turned our backs on him, he pursued us in order to redeem us. Even though God would be right in judging us, he has shown patience toward us in not giving us exactly what we deserve. Instead he has done everything possible to give us every chance to return to him. This is mercy and grace. Knowing that we won’t turn back to him on our own, he empowered us to be restored by sending his son Jesus to die for us on the cross so that we could be redeemed. All sin, guilt and shame removed and forgiven by us trusting and receiving Jesus and what he has done.
You see the whole point is to tell you that God is good. He is the only person who loves you for who you are and has the power to make you who you can be. He has higher aspirations for you than anyone and he has the power to help you become who he knows you can become.
Reach out to the one who has the power to transform you into the person you can be. By faith receive what he has done for you and follow him with all of your heart.
