The Park United Methodist Seniors are planning a bus trip to the Taylors Falls area on June 22 with a narrated river boat cruise on the St. Croix River and a visit to Gammelgarten, a living history museum dedicated to the Swedish settlers of that area. Gammelgarten includes a collection of pioneer buildings, as well as a museum representing the history of this Swedish settlement. (This is the area that the author, Vilhelm Moberg, used as a setting for his books, “The Emigrants,” Unto A Good Land,” “The Settlers” and “The Last Letter Home.”) Our visit will end with a Swedish smorgasbord at Elim Lutheran Church.
Anyone interested in joining the group for this day trip, should contact the church at 829-4116 or call 829-4339 before June 4. Cost of the trip is $75, (which covers motor coach transportation, entry fees, smorgasbord, tips).
