2012 LLC Summer Services planned

The 2012 Laestadian Lutheran Church (LLC) summer services will be July 5-8 at the Forestview Middle School in Baxter. The congregations of Brainerd, Menahga and Wolf Lake will host the services. They are anticipating 5,000-6,000 people to attend. There will be a Swedish sermon as well as Finnish sermons, which will be translated, along with the English sermons. Outdoor gospel concert

MALMO — The Great Adventure Band will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday at Malmo Evangelical Free Church.

As a fun-loving, traditional family from Braham, Great Adventure Gospel Band loves to sing and play gospel music. The group consists of David and Kris Garms and seven of their eight children, ages ranging from 8 to 21. Each member of the family plays at least one instrument to accompany their family harmony, creating a lively atmosphere at each performance.

Malmo Church is located near the junction of Highways 47 and 18 on Highway 18 near the northeast corner of Lake Mille Lacs.

Sestri to perform with Yale Russian Chorus

LITTLE FALLS — Sestri, a new Slavic women’s singing group from St. Francis Music Center in Little Falls, will perform with alumni of the Yale Russian Chorus at 3 p.m. July 29 at Plymouth Congregational Church in Minneapolis.

The two groups will perform a concert of traditional eastern European music from Macedonia, Bulgaria, Croatia and Georgia under the direction of Conductors Daniel Gsovski and John Stewart.

GO BIG…make a splash!

NISSWA — This summer, experience four evenings of bringing God’s Word to life at Timberwood Church’s vacation Bible school. Kids ages four to going into fifth grade this fall won’t want to miss out July 16-19 from 6-8 p.m. at Timberwood Church, 23084 State Highway 371, Nisswa. All registrations are online at

First Lutheran activities

First Lutheran Church in Brainerd will be closed in observance of the Fourth of July holiday. There will also be no Wednesday night service on July 4. Wednesday services will resume on July 11. There will also be no Summer Stretch on Thursday. Summer Stretch will resume on July 12.

Stephen Larson will be sharing special music at both services this Sunday.

Pine Mountain Gospel vacation Bible school

Gospel night with Mike Turner
