Thomas J at CCC

NISSWA — Christ Community Church, 24646 Hazelwood Dr., Nisswa, will be having Thomas J lead their 9 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. worship services Sunday. Thomas J is a Nashville musician who lives in Phoenix and loves Minnesota. His music is original gospel with roots going back to the Jesus movement.

songs concert

LITTLE FALLS — St. Francis Music Center, Little Falls, presents Sestri in concert at 7 p.m. July 15 in the Sacred Heart Chapel, St. Francis Convent, Little Falls. Sestri is a women’s performing group that sings the folk songs of Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Russia and the Ukraine. The lyrical songs tell stories of love, work, war, country life and sorrow. The group strives to maintain the original mode of the music, which often includes dissonant harmonies, unusual rhythms, and distinctive vocal qualities which make Slavic music unique and exciting for so many listeners. The concert will feature a wide variety of songs, each with an introduction so the audience will get a feeling of the story behind each song. The concert is free and open to the public. Outdoor gospel concert

This Saturday night at 7 p.m. Malmo Free Church will present its annual local music artists’ night.

There are many dedicated and talented people in this area that will bless and uplift you with a variety of musical talents. Malmo Free Church has gathered soloists and musical groups from all over the area to come and share their gifts with you. Due to our sound system this concert will be inside the air conditioned church. Refreshments will be available and a free will offering will be received.

Malmo Church is located near the junction of Highways 47 and 18 on Highway 18 near the northeast corner of Lake Mille Lacs.

Bazaar and bake

sale planned

There will be a bazaar and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday (Bean Hole Day) at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Pequot Lakes.

There will be homemade pie, coffe and lefse.

Glen Clark to perform

Glen Clark will be at Crossroads MusicCafe (New Song) at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. He will also be at Communitas (Crossroads Cafe) leading worhship at 10 a.m.

LWML bake sale

The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League Ladies of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church will have a bake sale July 11, Bean Hole Day. Profits go to local charities. For questions, call 963-4495.

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church rummage sale

BAXTER — The Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 6311 Mildred Road, Baxter, will have its rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Polka service planned

Zion Lutheran Church, 220 North Eighth St., Brainerd, will have a polka service at 5:30 p.m. July 14. Music will be by Chuck Thiel and the Jolly Ramblers. There will be a picnic meal after the service. The event is sponsored by Zion Lutheran Laymen’s League.

Hymn festival in Hillman

HILLMAN — Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hillman, is planning a hymn festival for the 9:30 a.m. Sunday worship on July 15. Some of the old favorite hymns will be sung to keyboard and instrumental accompaniment along with some commentary. Instrumental musicians from the Duluth, Brainerd and Crosby areas will join parish musicians in highlighting these hymns.

The Lord’s Supper will be celebrated and following worship, all are invited to the congregational French toast breakfast. Tickets will be available for purchase at the door. Adults: $7; children, $3.
