Gillette to speak
Gillette to speak
Lt. Col. (Ret.) Steve Gillette will be the special speaker at 11 a.m. Sunday at The Church on the Wise Road.
Gillette was a fighter pilot in the Air Force who served in Southeast Asia where he flew F-4 Phantoms into Laos and Cambodia.
Later he served as an F-15 Eagle Pilot in the Netherlands and served in Operation Desert Storm.
He and his wife, Cari, have served as missionaries in Ethiopia and as a pastor and speaker.
Dinner will be served after the service at the church, 10345 Wise Road, Brainerd.
Kingery Family in concert
The second in a series of three bluegrass/gospel concert at Living Savior Lutheran Church will be 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The group performing will be The Kingery Family from Grove City. Weather permitting, the concert will be outdoors. For those interested, for a small charge prior to the concert, brats and pop will be served from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The church is located three and a half miles west of Schaefer’s corner on County Road 77.
Outdoor gospel concert
MALMO — Malmo Free Church will present Duane and Deb Hawkinson along with Verna and Cindy Hawkinson and Jeff Powers in concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at Malmo Free Church. Malmo Church is located near the junction of Highways 47 and 18 on Highway 18 near the northeast corner of Lake Mille Lacs.
Brainerd Lakes Area Ministerial Association
On Tuesday, the Brainerd Lakes Area Ministerial Association will be meeting over breakfast at the Brainerd Lakes Cafe, 2115 S. 6th Street, Brainerd, from 8-9 a.m. Our purpose for gathering will be to encourage, support and pray for one another. The fellowship together will allow us to get to know each other personally. This will produce the added benefits of mutual trust and respect among our colleagues. Since the Ministerial Association is a network of professional clergy which crosses all denominational lines, we invite all area pastors to join us.
VBS at Motley
MOTLEY — Motley United Methodist Church will host vacation Bible school from 5-7:45 p.m. July 23-26. Featured will be Groups “Sky” program, where “Everything is Possible with God.” The program is for ages 3 and up, and older preteens can be VBS helpers. A light supper will be provided each evening. Bethlehem Lutheran news
Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brainerd welcomes Pastor Dick Erickson of Crosslake who will be filling in for Pastors Skinner and Thomson this week who are at the National Youth Gathering in New Orleans with 16 of Bethlehem’s kids. This is the Eighth Sunday after Pentecost and we will be having the regular 9 a.m. service with coffee served in the Narthex afterwards. Downey to speak at CCC
Lee Downey, missionary with Six Seasons Christian Riders, will be preaching Sunday at Christ Community Church, 24646 Hazelwood Drive, Nisswa. Come and hear how God has been working in Downey’s ministry. Services are at 9 a.m. and 10:15 a.m.
VBS at Ossipee Community Church
The Ossipee Community Church will have vacation Bible school Monday through July 27 from 7-9 p.m. There will be Bible stories and games for children and a study of the book of Daniel for adults. The Ossipee Community Church is located at the corner of County Road 3 and County Road 106, six miles north of Merrifield.
BACC youth fundraiser
The BACC youth invites everyone to Carlson’s Pillow Cleaning Service from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday at St. Andrew’s Church in Brainerd. Pillows cleaned, deoderized, sanitized and fluffed. It’s a mobile unit. Same day service while you wait. Proceeds will go to BACC youth.
First Lutheran services
Folk Services will be held this Sunday, July 22, at both the 8 and 10 a.m. services at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd. Special music will be shared by Bruce Lunde and Rod Kelsey.
On Monday, youth and adult leaders will return from their journey to the ELCA National Youth Gathering in New Orleans. Their expected arrival time will be between 3 -4 p.m at First Lutheran Church, 424 S. 8th St. Brainerd.
