Farm to Fork presentation at fall harvest potluck
NISSWA — The Fall Harvest Potluck at Lutheran Church of the Cross, Nisswa, will be at 6 p.m. Sept. 18. Bring a dish to share using locally grown fruits and vegetables. The featured entree will be from Prairie Bay Restaurant, in partnership with the Farm on St. Mathias.
A donation of $3 is suggested for the featured entree. Following the potluck there will be a special presentation entitled “Farm to Fork” by Arlene Jones of The Farm on St. Mathias.
Her presentation will discuss partnerships between local farms and restaurants. Come and learn about the locally grown food movement and how it contributes to local business development.
There will be more than a dozen door prizes offered throughout the evening: one year free garden plot ($20 value), various Jerry Raedeke works of art and glassware, LCC stainless steel water bottles and hand-crafted articles by talented local artists. Also, this will be the first opportunity to signup for a 2013 plot in the LCC Community Garden.
The Journey Church of Nisswa to Host the Litchfield Male Chorus
NISSWA — The Journey Church of Nisswa will be hosting the singing of The Litchfield Male Chorus at the Sept. 23 worship service at 9:59 a.m. This renowned and award winning group based in Litchfield is made up of approximately 25 men from central Minnesota. They will present music for the first half of the service, followed by a message from the Journey’s Pastor Scott Pederson. The service will be concluded with a final selection from the Litchfield group.
Coffee and snacks are always provided and a donation box will be provided to defray the group’s travel expenses. The Journey Church of Nisswa is located at 5459 CR 18, Nisswa (across from the A&W restaurant).
Legacy Five will be in concert at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 21 at Heritage Assembly of God Church auditorium, 13242 Berrywood Drive, Baxter.
River of Life Productions invites you to an evening of gospel music with the award winning Legacy Five Quartet. Legacy Five has entertained Brainerd/Baxter Southern Gospel music lovers for 12 seasons in a row. This year they will be introducing a new bass singer, Matthew Fouch. Fouch just started with the quartet in September. Also, Beatrice Henderson Sundquist will be playing some piano prelude music.

Rally Sunday at
Rally Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd will be Sunday. This is the beginning of the fall worship schedule with two services on Sunday at 8:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. with Holy Communion. The Rally Sunday services will be highlighted with a skit and special music along with Holy Communion. The Trinity Clowns will a part of both services. Sunday school for 3-year-olds through fifth-graders will be held between services.
Also, an ice cream and pie social will be held from 9-11 a.m. which is sponsored by the Trinity Health Ministry Team. The social will be held in the Gathering area and the surrounding area.
The Wednesday night services will continue to be held at 6 p.m. This is an informal 30-minute service with contemporary music and Holy Communion.

UCC to celebrate Welcome Sunday
First Congregational United Church of Christ will celebrate Welcome Sunday on Sunday.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church events
On Sunday, Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brainerd will return to our regular Sunday schedule, which is 8:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. worship services with Sunday school and Adult Learning from 9:40 to 10:40 a.m. This Sunday, there will be an opportunity for kids and parents to register for Sunday school at 9:40 a.m. Following that, there will be a carnival outside with games and painting activities. Dress appropriately.

NISSWA — Christ Community Church, 24646 Hazelwood Drive, Nisswa, will have men’s breakfast and Bible study from 7:30-9 a.m. Saturday. Join Pastor Dave for a time of fellowship, food and a look into God’s Word. They will be discussing seeing “The Kingdom of God.”
Sunday school resumes at Christ Lutheran
BAXTER — Sunday school will resume at Christ Lutheran Church in Baxter at 10:15 a.m. Sunday. Ages pre-K through eigth-grade are welcome.
Children’s lessons will cover Bible history accounts with applications for today and eternity.

Pie and ice
GARRISON — Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church in Garrison will have a pie and ice cream social with sloppy joes from 5-7 p.m. Thursday. Shepherd of the Lake is located approximately one mile north of the “Y” in Garrison.
Sunday is Rally Sunday at First Lutheran Church, 424 S. Eighth St., Brainerd. Sunday worship services times will change to 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. The FLC Senior Choir will share special music at both services.
This is a special Sunday for everyone. Sunday school will begin at 9:15 a.m. Students (3-year-old to fourth-grade) and their parents will meet in the sanctuary.
The children will be introduced to their teachers and some special guests who will tell them about the Bible stories they will learn about this school year. Then, root beer floats will be served in Koinonia. For adults there will be a ministry fair and coffee fellowship at 9:15 a.m. in Koinonia.
Representatives of the many ministry teams at FLC will share information about their teams and the fellowship they share.
At the 10:30 a.m. worship services our Sunday school teachers and confirmation guides will be installed and shown the support of our congregation for their commitment.
First Lutheran Church,
PILLAGER — First Lutheran Church, Pillager, will serve breakfast after services on Sunday. Prior to the breakfast, there will be a special congregational meeting to vote to extend a letter of call to a pastor recommended by the call committee.
Zion Lutheran Church, 220 North Eighth St., Brainerd, has a new season starting with the youth rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. They are raising money to attend the youth convention in San Antonio.
Saturday evening services resume at 5:30 p.m. with a Bible study to follow at 6:45 p.m.
Rally Day will be Sunday. Services are at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. with Sunday school in between beginning at 9:15 a.m. There will be a tailgate party at 11:30 a.m. with TV for viewing football.
Bible class will be 9 a.m. Tuesday.
There will be a brown bag lunch Bible study at noon Wednesday with praise team meeting at 4:30 p.m., choir at 5:30 p.m., confirmation from 6-7 p.m. and Bible study at 6:30 p.m.
Men’s Bible study will be 6 a.m. Thursday in the lounge with doughnuts from the Senior Center.
‘Reclaiming the culture of marriage’ presentation planned
Father Eric Hastings and attorney Al Jacobson will present “Reclaiming the culture of marriage,” at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Hall, 404 Ninth St. N., Brainerd. This is an informational event about the proposed marriage amendment from Biblical and legal perspectives. There will be time for questions and answers.
Father Hastings, J.C.L. is a priest of the Diocese of Duluth. He currently serves as chancellor and judicial vicar of the Diocese, and is pastor of St. Benedict in Duluth. He received his canon law degree in 2007.
Jacobson is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School. He practices law in Hibbing and speaks widely about the legal ramifications of redefining marriage.
Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Church Rally Sunday
Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Church is having Rally Sunday at 9 a.m. Sunday. There will be a class for everyone. The 3-year-olds through sixth grade will have a Kingdom Adventure Sunday school this year.
Seventh and eighth grade confirmation class will meet with Pastor Gary Jorgenson and the high school theme is “Take Charge.” There will also be adult Bible study. Worship will follow at 10 a.m. featuring a puppet show by the youth. Nursery care is available. Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. is adult Bible study in the book of Acts.
