PEQUOT LAKES — Grace United Methodist Church of Pequot Lakes invites children of the commuity to attend a Halloween carnival from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday. Children, from toddlers to upper elementary age, may purchase tickets (4 tickets for $1) to play carnival games, enjoy the bounce house, take pony rides, do face painting and a cake walk. It will be a non-frightening experience for the little ones and costumes are welcome. Lunch will be available for purchase in the fellowship hall — corndogs, brats, nachos, chips, pop, etc. Grace United Methodist Church is located 1.7 miles south of the stoplight in Pequot Lakes on Highway 371.
■ Trunk or treat at
Light of the Cross
GARRISON — Halloween bash trunk or treat will be in the parking lot of Light of the Cross Lutheran Church from 5-8 p.m. Oct. 31. There will be a spooky haunted trail with treats, games and much more. Light of the Cross is located two blocks west of the Super Valu in Garrison.
■ Trinity Lutheran to hold
Trinity Lutheran Church of Brainerd will be holding its semi-annual meeting at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. Church president Paola Sederquist will be presiding at the meeting. The meeting will include the election of officers, approval of 2013 budget and changes to the church constitution. ■ Brainerd Lakes Area
On Tuesday, the Brainerd Lakes Area Ministerial Association will meet over breakfast at the Brainerd Lakes Cafe, 2115 S. 6th St., Brainerd, from 8-9 a.m. Our purpose for gathering will be to encourage, support and pray for one another. The fellowship together will allow us to get to know each other personally. This will produce the added benefits of mutual trust and respect among our colleagues. Since the Ministerial Association is a network of professional clergy which crosses all denominational lines, all pastors are invited.
From 3-6 p.m. Oct. 28 at the New Light Campus of Park UMC a group will be meeting to make diapers for babies and children of Honduras. This is an ongoing project of Salem West Lutheran in Deerwood. The diapers are made of old T-shirts. It is a great way to repurpose old T-shirts and provide a much needed item.
Needed for this project are 50-100 percent cotton T-shirts, any color, new or used. These can be dropped in the box at Park UMC. Those who are interested in coming to help sign up on the bulletin board at the church where there is also a list of supplies needed.
■ OASIS fun night
AITKIN — Aitkin’s Westside Church will have an OASIS fun night for kids in grades 3-6 from 5-10 p.m. Oct. 26. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 and are available through the start of the event. There will be all-you-can-eat pizza and snacks with one can of soda each. Children may bring money for additional soda or snacks from the Snack Shop.

■ Lakes Area Parish Nurse Group
The Lakes Area Parish Nurse Group will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Good Samaritan Society-Woodland, 200 Buffalo Hills Lane, Brainerd. There will be a presentation by Peter Johnson on Healthy Brains for Children. Pastors and youth directors are welcome to attend this meeting as well as all parish nurses.

■ First Lutheran Church
to serve breakfast
There will be a pancake and sausage breakfast served from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Sunday in Koinonia at First Lutheran Church in Brainerd. Proceeds will benefit the 2013 Youth Mission Trip to Wind River Reservation in Wyoming.
■ Good Shepherd activities
The men of Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Church will meet 7 a.m. Saturday at the church for breakfast and Bible study. The women will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the church for brunch, business meeting and Bible study.
The youths will be attending the “Night of Worship” with Christy Nockels from 7-9 p.m. Oct. 26 at Emmanuel Christian Center, Minneapolis. For more information on any of these gatherings, call the church office at 824-3052.
■ Reformation Sunday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church
Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brainerd is preparing to host nationally acclaimed organist David Cherwien and Susan Palo Cherwien on Reformation Sunday, Oct. 28 for a 5 p.m. Hymn Festival open to the public. “Reformation -- the Church at Song” will include some “golden oldies” as well as introduce us to something new from our ELW hymnal. The choirs of Bethlehem and Lutheran Church of the Cross will join in leading the singing. The Cherwiens travel all over the country doing hymn festivals. There is no cost, but a freewill offering will go to the Interfaith Hospitality Network, Brainerd area church’s homeless outreach program. ■ Sixth annual hunters’
The sixth annual hunters’ feast, celebrating the deer opener, will be 5:30-8 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Community Church of Walker, UCC. Tickets are being pre-sold now by church members and some will be available at the door. Prices are $12 for adults and $7 for youth under 12.
For a special savings, show your hunting license at the door and get $2 off your ticket price. There will be a silent auction.
■ Blues Night at Tornstrom
The Journey North Church is sponsoring a Blues Night at 6 p.m. Oct. 27 at Tornstrom Auditorium. Come experience blues in a whole new way with Steve Duede. His passion for blues stems from the pain and desperation shared in the Bible but with the uplifting hope we have in our Savior.

There will be a retirement open house from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at Oak Street Chapel for Pastor Carolyn Avelsgaard.
■ Bake and rummage sale
SOUTH LONG LAKE — Bethel Lutheran Church of South Long Lake will have its annual fall bake and rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. The sale will feature breads, pies, bars, cookies, canned goods, produce, quilts, embroidered dish towels, knit dish cloths and holiday items.
The youth will have a rummage sale featuring clothing, household items, books, toys, holiday decorations and miscellaneous items.
The luncheon will be sloppy joes, pie and coffee served throughout the sale hours.
Proceeds from the sale will be used for miscellaneous expenses related to flood damage to the church.
Bethel is located at the intersection of Thompson Road and Five Mile Road or 2.5 miles south on Highway 25 and three miles east on Thompson Road.
■ Immanuel Lutheran breakfast
HILLMAN — A French toast breakfast will be from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 28 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hillman. Cost for adults is $7; under 10, $3; under 5, free.

The youth of Park UMC will be trick-or-treating for food for the food shelf Wednesday. People who live in north Brainerd in the vicinity of the church should be on the look out for these young people and give a canned item or two to them.
