The public is invited to join members and friends of Park United Methodist, 315 N 6th St., Brainerd, at 7:45 p.m. Nov. 30 and 6:45 p.m. Dec. 1 to see many quilts made by Arlean Rosemore and family and hear them present a program on the development of many of the quilts and their ministry of Quilts for Kids.
■ ‘Forks Over Knives’ movie
The “Forks Over Knives” movie will be shown at 6 p.m. Sunday at Oak Street Christian School, 2910 Oak St., building C, Brainerd.
■ Heatherlyn in concert
NISSWA — Heatherlyn will be in concert at the Cross Callings Cafe at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Heatherlyn is a nationally touring, soul-roots-rock independent singer and song~artist, writer, raconteur and poet. Her soulful, honest, hopeful voice resonates with people from all various walks of life.
In concert, she leads participants on a refreshing journey of connection from whimsical laughter together to deeper thoughtfulness about life and love, considering how we each are conduits of peace and hope in our world. For more info on Heatherlyn checkout www.heatherlynmusic.com.
Donations for the New Pathways Shelter (IHN) or the Lakes Area Food Shelf are celebrated and appreciated.
Coffee, treats and other beverages will be available for purchase with proceeds going to support the New Pathways Homeless Shelter of Brainerd.
■ Christmas concert planned
LITTLE FALLS — The St. Francis Community Chorale will present a Christmas Concert, “O Holy Night,” at 7 p.m. Dec. 2 in Sacred Heart Chapel, St. Francis Convent, Little Falls.
The Chorale will present Christmas music of various styles. There will also be opportunities for the audience to join in and sing along.
A special treat for this concert will be “Some Children See Him,” featuring Jaylene Newman as the soloist. Jaylene “JJ” is 7 years old and has been studying voice at St. Francis Music Center for the past two years under Dorothy Koopmann and Hillary Vermillion. Newman is a student at Lindbergh Elementary and is the daughter of Julie and Nick Newman.
Also featured at this concert will be Brothers in Harmony, a men’s singing group from St. Francis Music Center. This group is under the direction of Kathy Pederson.
The St. Francis Community Chorale is the culmination of a dream of St. Francis Music Center, Little Falls, to create a community choir open to all teens and adults who love to sing together. The chorale meets Thursday evenings to rehearse and is open to all. Under the direction of Barb Stumpf the chorale has steadily grown and more are welcome to join after the concert.
The concert is free and open to the public. The St. Francis Community Chorale is sponsored by a grant from the Five Wings Arts Council through funding from the Minnesota State Legislature. For more information call St. Francis Music Center at 320-632-0637.
■ Advent Day of Reflection
LITTLE FALLS — The Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls invite the public to attend Advent Day of Reflection: Live into Incarnation, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 2 at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls. As we begin the season of Advent, Jim Smith, event presenter, will help participants fine-tune their attention to God-with-us and lovingly engage with Christ among us. The retreat will employ the sacred practices of Lectio Divina (listening with the ear of our heart), Visio Divina (seeing with the eye of our heart), and Vita Divina (witnessing God in others, especially in the marginalized) as the means to live into Incarnation.
Smith’s background includes being a pastoral leader, retreat director, writer, spiritual director and faith formation consultant. In addition, he is the author of Welcome the People! Ways to gather and Nourish Adults.

■ New member classes planned

■ Lakes Area Parish Nurse Group
The Lakes Area Parish Nurse Group will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Good Samaritan Society-Woodland, 200 Buffalo Hills Lane, Brainerd.

■ Brainerd Lakes Area Ministerial Association
On Tuesday, the Brainerd Lakes Area Ministerial Association will meet over breakfast at the Brainerd Lakes Cafe, 2115 S. 6th St., Brainerd, from 8-9 a.m. Our purpose for gathering will be to encourage, support and pray for one another. The fellowship together will allow us to get to know each other personally. This will produce the added benefits of mutual trust and respect among our colleagues. Since the Ministerial Association is a network of professional clergy which crosses all denominational lines, all pastors are invited.
■ Advent service to be held
Advent Service will be held Wednesday at Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Church
The evening will start off with soup and sandwich fellowship at 5 p.m. followed by trimming the Christmas tree and ending with the worship service at 7 p.m. Pastor Jorgenson will give the message on “Invitation to Watch.” The church is located at 5878 Pine Beach Road, Brainerd.
