■ UCC to honor Celley
First Congregational United Church of Christ will honor departing pastor Deborah Celley on Sunday. She will be preaching her last sermon at the 10 a.m. worship service followed by a luncheon in the Fellowship Hall. The Rev. Celley began her ministry to the Brainerd church in 1998 and will be leaving to become the pastor at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Mankato.
■ Pizza Ranch fundraiser planned
On Monday from 5-8 p.m. the Grace United Methodist Church Youth Group will have a fundraiser at the Pizza Ranch in Baxter. Proceeds benefit the youth group fund as well as helping the youth raise money to attend an annual senior high retreat. Grace UMC youth will receive 10 percent of the sales during this period of time along with tips. The community is invited.
■ Brainerd Lakes Area Ministerial Association
On Tuesday, the Brainerd Lakes Area Ministerial Association will be meeting over breakfast at the Brainerd Lakes Cafe, 2115 S. 6th Street, Brainerd from 8-9 a.m. Our purpose for gathering will be to encourage, support and pray for one another. The fellowship together will allow us to get to know each other personally. This will produce the added benefits of mutual trust and respect among our colleagues. Since the Ministerial Association is a network of professional clergy which crosses all denominational lines, we invite all area pastors to join us.
■ Lakes Area Parish Nurse meeting
The Lakes Area Parish Nurse meeting will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Good Samaritan Society-Woodland, 200 Buffalo Hills Lane, Brainerd.
■ First Lutheran Church activities
On Saturday, the congregation is invited to attend a meet and greet celebration potluck” for the new senior pastor candidate. This is an excellent opportunity to meet the candidate and his family prior to the annual congregational meeting. Members are asked to bring a dish to share. Members whose last names begin with the letters A-I are asked to bring a hotdish; J-R please bring salads or side dishes; and S-Z are asked to bring desserts.
At 9:15 a.m. Sunday, there will be a preview of the proposed 2013 Church Budget. The preview will be held in Koinonia fellowship hall. So grab a cup of coffee and caramel roll and join the conversation. Proceeds from the caramel roll sales will benefit FLC youth attending the summer mission trip to Wind River, Wyo.
