■ Outdoor gospel concert
On Saturday night at 7 p.m. the Malmo Free Church is pleased to present the Alzen Family from Roberts, Wis., in concert.
Brad and Denise Alzen and their six children enjoy making old-time toe-tapping music together and sharing it with friends. They are a true family band, with mom, dad and all the children sharing the vocal and instrumental load. Denise also uses sign language to give added expression to songs. The Alzen Family plays bluegrass and gospel music the whole family can enjoy.
Malmo Church is located near the junction of Highways 47 and 18 on Highway 18 near the northeast corner of Lake Mille Lacs.
■ First annual mid-summer smorgasbord
HILLMAN — On July 12, Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hillman will have its first annual mid-summer smorgasbord from 4:30 to 8 p.m. The food categories are main dishes, salads, homemade breads and desserts. There will be a silent auction at the same time as the meal. There are some nice items that have been donated to the church. Immanuel is located at the junction of Highway 27 and County Road 47, five miles north of Hillman.
■ Bazaar and bake sale
Our Savior’s Lutheran Church will have a bazaar and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday (Bean Hole Day) a half block west of the stoplights in Pequot Lakes. There will be homemade pie, coffee and lefse, crafts and a bake sale.
■ Hot music and cool cones
CROSSLAKE — There will be an ice cream social and music from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Crosslake Lutheran Church. Event will be held in the church parking lot, weather permitting, or in the Fellowship Hall. Cones and sundaes with toppings galore and music by The Last Generation and fun and games for the kids. The church is located on County Road 66 in Crosslake, across from Corp. of Engineers Campground. Bring lawn chairs.
■ Zion Lutheran activities
Vacation Bible school at Zion Lutheran Church, 220 North Eighth Street, Brainerd, is scheduled for Monday through July 12. The kids will have four evenings at Zion. On July 12, they will have the opportunity to travel to Lutheran Island Camp on Battle Lake and take part in music, dramas, swimming and Bible study. Each evening will begin with supper from 5-5:45 p.m. and VBS from 6-8 p.m.
The annual polka music service will be July 13 at 5:30 p.m. Music is provided by the Jolly Ramblers. The service will be followed by an outdoor picnic from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. with more Jolly Ramblers music. Food will be provided.
■ First Lutheran Church activities
Children in pre-K through those entering 7th grade can join Pandamania vacation Bible school from July 29-August 2 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Meet Pastor Stiles with dessert on the deck at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Don and Barb Lindgron, 11224 Country Lane, Brainerd.
Summer stretch for students in grades 6-8 will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday. Service project that day will be at the Brainerd Public Library followed by a fun day of events for the afternoon.
■ Teen Challenge Choir at The
Journey North Community Church
The Journey North in Brainerd will host the MN Adult and Teen Challenge Choir at all of their services, at 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Saturday, and again 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday. As residents of the Central Minnesota Campus in Brainerd, they perform in many local churches.
For almost 30 years MN Adult & Teen Challenge has been restoring hope to adults and teens struggling with drugs and alcohol addiction. In Brainerd, we offer a long term faith-based men’s residential program. At Life Renewal, we also offer an adult men and women’s outpatient program. ■ Future dates of the Minnesota
Adult and Teen Challenge Choir
Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge will be at Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood and Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Church in Brainerd on July 14. On July 21, they will be at First Lutheran Church in Aitkin; and on July 28, they will be at the Crosby Assembly of God Church in Crosby and at The Well Church in Walker.
■ Bake sale at Bean Hole Days
PEQUOT LAKES — The Ladies Guild of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church will have a bake sale of many homemade pies, etc., Wednesday at Bean Hole Days in Pequot Lakes.
