Before we lay people off or increase class sizes, we want people to tell us first. That's the message from Supt. Bob Gross as the district prepares for its excess levy vote on Nov. 4. The levy would raise $315 per pupil, or a total of $2.5 million to balance the budget.

The Warrior girls' swim team remained unbeaten with a 111-61 victory over Moorhead. Brainers's record is now 9-0, its best season start since 1976. Event winners were Kyung Endres, Tony Walker, Shane Kiefer, Kari Casey and both relay teams.

Richard Broach, son of Mrs. Henry Mills, Brainerd, was in a hospital in Faribault today recovering from injuries sustained in the prep football game between Shattuck and Blake academies. Broach, a Shattuck guard, has x-rays showing no broken bones.

Sheriff Claus Theorin has jailed Steve Bosnich and Laura Durkovich of Ironton on charges of adultery. Both were bound over on $500 bond, which they could not pat. John Durkovich came from Michigan and had the two arrested, charging his wife left him to live with Bosnich.
