The Brainerd High School debate squad captured two first places in three divisions at St. Francis High School, which featured more than 60 teams from 20 schools. The winning varsity squad was Mark Fitzpatrick, Tony Maras, Chris Kelkar and Lonny Smith.

(Photo) Whitefish Lake yielded this pair of walleyes to John Perry and his brother Kevin, both of Crosslake. The fish weighed in at 10-12 and 10-15 and were landed in six feet of water on Rapala lures. Nisswa Bait Shop took the photo.

Standing room was at a premium when the audience packed the First Baptist Church to hear Alexander Kaminsky, the "Imperial Russian Violinist," and his pianist Einar Krantz perform. Rev. Edgar Valiant said the crowd was the largest since the church dedication seven years ago.

A regular wild west holdup of a motor bus was staged near Deerwood at midnight when two men, armed with revolvers and with handkerchiefs covering their faces, boarded the Humphrey Bus and told the 10 passengers to give up their money, being a total of $37. The men escaped.
