Brainerd Legion upcoming events
The Brainerd American Legion Post Executive committee meeting will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Legion.
Due to the Fourth of July holiday and vacations of Executive Committee members, the Brainerd American Legion Auxiliary has canceled the Executive Committee meeting and regular membership meeting scheduled for Tuesday. Next regular meeting will be in August.
A jumbo shrimp dinner by Terry Metzger and sons will be served from 5:30 p.m. until gone Thursday at the Legion. Cost is $13 ($12 with a pre-sale ticket).
Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR)
Captain Robert Orr Chapter DAR meets 10 a.m. July 9 at Sawmill Inn, Brainerd. Program and lunch follows meeting. Call Faye at 963-3955 or DeAnn at 546-6086.
Moo…ve Over Meat vegetarian cooking class
A free vegetarian cooking class will be 4-5:30 p.m. July 10 at Oak Street Christian School, 2910 Oak St., Brainerd. The class will be “Cooking by the Book — Better Breakfasts, Part I.”

Brainerd Elks Lodge breakfast
Brainerd Elks Lodge No. 615 will serve breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday at 215 South Ninth St., Brainerd. Order from the menu. All proceeds go to support Elks programs.
Senior picnic planned
A senior picnic will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 21 at Lum Park, Brainerd. Tickets are $5 per person. You can purchase your tickets Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lakes Area Senior Activity Center, 803 Kingwood Street, Brainerd. Your $5 ticket provides you with a picnic lunch, games, music and pontoon rides. The selection of the Outstanding Senior Volunteer for Crow Wing County will be held following lunch. Let’s Go Fishing with Seniors will be providing free pontoon rides every half an hour. Deadline to get your ticket is July 14. Senior Picnic is sponsored by the Lakes Area Senior Activity Center.

BACKUS — The Backus American Legion Auxiliary’s monthly breakfast will be served from 7:30-11:30 a.m. July 10. Cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children under age 10.
BHS class of 1986 25th reunion
The Brainerd High School class of 1986 25th reunion will be Friday at Prairie Bay Restaurant in Baxter. Cost is $29.86 per person. Lake Hubert Community Grange picnic/potluck
The Lake Hubert Community Grange picnic/potluck will be 2 p.m. July 9. Bring bats, balls, softball, etc.
Take Highway 371 north of Brainerd to Sportland Corner, County Road 13 east three miles to Sunset Valley Road, 1/4 mile north on left side old Lake Hubert School House.
No Mission Possible Senior Club potluck
There will be no Mission Possible potluck lunch on Tuesday due to the Senior Picnic at Lum Park on July 21.
There will be a senior dance from 2-5 p.m. Wednesday at the Brainerd Eagles with music by John and Virginia.
Widowed Friends will not meet

Brainerd High School class of 1981 seeks classmates for upcoming 30th reunion
Brainerd High School’s Class of 1981 is hosting its 30th reunion Aug. 6 and still seeking registrants. A casual reception, which includes three appetizer stations and entertainment, will be at 6 p.m. at Timbermist Meeting and Banquet Facility, 19624 County Road 3, Brainerd. Timbermist is next to The Chap Family Restaurant (formerly The Chapparal).
