Eva Mudgett benefit planned

PILLAGER — There will be a benefit for Eva Mudgett Feb. 4 at the Pillager Community Center. There will be a free-will offering spaghetti feed and silent auction from 1-4 p.m. and a live auction and live music provided by the Shaffers from 4-8 p.m.

Mudgett is the daughter of Steve and Jessica Mudgett of Pillager. She was diagnosed with kidney disease about a year ago and was recently diagnosed with leukemia. Proceeds will go to help Eva and her family offset the costs of medical bills and expenses incurred traveling to and from the Twin Cities weekly for the next three years for chemo treatments. Lakes Area Caged Bird Club

The Lakes Area Caged Bird Club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Oak Lawn Town Hall located at Highway 18, one mile east of the intersection of Highways 18 and 25. They will be discussing care and training of our pet birds. For more information, call Char at 764-2625.

Disabled American Veterans

The monthly meeting for DAV Crow Wing County Chapter No. 22 will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the Brainerd VFW club. Chapter 22 officers meeting will begin at 6 p.m.

Brainerd Legion upcoming events

Brainerd Legion Post membership meeting will be 7 p.m. Monday at the Post. A pork chop dinner by the Auxiliary will be served from 5:30 p.m. until gone Thursday. Cost: $8.

Boot Camp for New Dads

The Brainerd Lakes Area Early Childhood Coalition in partnership with Essentia Health will be offering Boot Camp for New Dads from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd. Boot Camp for New Dads is a nationally licensed program, facilitated by men, which is designed to give expectant fathers a place to learn from experienced fathers. Encore Arts Association

“Just for Fun” is the theme for Encore Arts Association’s meeting to be at the Lakes Area Senior Activities Center, 803 Kingwood, Brainerd, at 7 p.m. Tuesday. The program will center around discussion of a “Do Your Own Thing” project, started at home, using materials and medium of your choice, with a limited palette consisting of one main color and one accent color. White can be used to dilute color, if compatible with your medium. Bring your paints and materials to continue working, or start a new project after discussion, as desired. Brainerd Lakes Area Women of Today wine and beer tasting

The Brainerd Lakes Area Women of Today will have a beer and wine tasting fundraiser from 5-8 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Brainerd Hotel and Conference Center. Cost is $15 per person and includes wine and beer samples as well as appetizers.

GriefShare Support Group

GriefShare Support group will begin a new series 7 p.m. Feb. 7 at Lakewood Evangelical Free Church, 6284 Fairview Rd., Baxter. GriefShare is a series of 14 sessions that will end May 8. Cost is $15, scholarships are available. The DVD seminar features well-known authors and counselors who speak to those who are grieving the death of a loved one. A workbook is provided for further study. Sharing is on a voluntary basis. Grief is different for each individual and hits you when you least expect it. Sons of Norway meeting
