Class of 1952 will meet at noon Tuesday at Bonanza. All classmates, spouses and friends are welcome.

VFW upcoming events

There will be no Post or Auxiliary meeting Tuesday at the VFW due to the sweetheart dinner. Plan to attend the regular February meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

A champagne sweetheart dinner with filet mignon or jumbo shrimp will be 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday at the VFW. Cost: $12. For reservations call the Club at 829-6393.

The VFW Friday dinner will be ham and turkey from 5:30 p.m. until gone. Cost: $8.

Hab and crew will be doing a fish fry from 5:30 p.m. until gone Feb. 18 for a fund raiser for youth activity. Cost: $8.

VFW breakfast will be 8 a.m. to noon Feb. 19 at the VFW. Cost: $6.

Brainerd Legion upcoming events

Chicken a la king served over buttermilk biscuits by Dyanne Witthuhn will be served from 5:30 p.m. until gone Thursday at the Legion. Cost: $8.

Off Club winter bash will be Feb. 18 with social hour at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. at the Legion.

Disabled American Veterans

The monthly meeting for DAV Crow Wing County Chapter No. 22 will be Thursday at the Brainerd VFW club. The membership meeting will begin at 7 p.m. All members are invited to attend.

Chapter 22 officers meeting will begin at 6 p.m.

Nisswa Women’s Club

BAXTER — The Nisswa Women’s Club will hold its monthly membership meeting at noon Thursday with a social time from 11:30 a.m. to noon at Prairie Bay Grill, Baxter. The program will be “India: Customs and Culture,” presented by Rasila Patel.

Hostesses for the meeting are Carol Campbell, Kate Carlson, Joan Hecker, Loretta Adams and Anne Laufman. The inspirational will be given by Terri Nault.

Baxter Lions Club

The Baxter Lions Club will meet Monday at Camp Vanasek. The board meeting is at 6 p.m. Dinner is at 6:30 p.m. and the regular meeting is at 7 p.m.

Lakes Area Caged Bird Club

The Lakes Area Caged Bird Club will meet 7 p.m. Thursday at the Oak Lawn Town Hall located on Hwy. 18, one mile east of the intersection of Highways 18 and 25. For more information, call Char at 764-2625.

Brainerd Eagles Club breakfast

Brainerd Eagles Club breakfast will be 8:30 a.m. to noon Sunday at 124 Front St., Brainerd. The breakfast features the Eagles’ special for $6.

PEO CJ

Chapter CJ of PEO will meet at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Hostesses are Cathy Gray and Nancy Hall. The program will be our new program and the president’s letter.

WHS class of 1944

WHS class of 1944 will meet 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Northwind Grille.

Valentine party for singles

A Valentine party potluck and games for singles will be 5:30-9 p.m. Tuesday at Northland Arboretum. Typical ages are 40+. Call 828-9343 for more information. Sponsored by Lakes Area Singles. 

Brainerd Service League

Brainerd Service League will meet Tuesday at the home of Carol Nelson. Social time is 11:30 a.m. with lunch and business meeting to follow. Members are asked to RSVP.

Brainerd Masonic Lodge

A FellowCraft Degree is scheduled for Aurora Lodge No. 100 on Tuesday with dinner served at 6 p.m. and the degree beginning at 7 p.m. All local Masons are invited to attend.

BHS class of 1972

The BHS class of 1972 is planning an organizational meeting for the class reunion. If you are interested in planning the reunion, call Deb (Nelson) Kummet at 828-2108 or Carol (Loisel) Bruchhof at 829-0823 for more information.

Alpha Chapter No. 23

Alpha Chapter No. 23 will have heritage night at 7 p.m. Monday at the Masonic Hall. Bring a small amount of chocolate to share and bring any Star pictures for heritage night.

Ray’s Promenaders

A square dance will be held at Franklin Arts Center Friday. The theme will be red night. Royce Nelson will call Plus at 7:30 p.m. and Mainstream from 8-10 p.m. A finger food potluck lunch will follow.

Ruby’s Pantry

Ruby’s Pantry is a mission outreach where participants give a cash donation of $15 to cover expenses of the program and in return receive corporate surplus food. The variety and amount varies each month; however, the value of what is received generally averages $50-$100. Participants need to bring containers to carry their food home. No income guidelines. Ruby’s Pantry will be at Brainerd Armory on Wright Street the second Tuesday of each month. The next distribution from 11 a.m to 12:30 pm. Tuesday with doors opening at 9 a.m.

Senior dances

Senior dances will be 1-4 p.m. Tuesday at Motley with music by Country Diamonds; from 2-5 p.m. Wednesday at Brainerd Eagles with music by Country Pride and Don; and from 1-4 p.m. Friday in Deerwood with music by Jerry B.

NARVRE change

The National Association of Retired and Veteran Employees will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the small meeting room. All present and retired railroad employees, spouses, widows and widowers of railroad employees are eligible and welcome to attend

Dues to be sent to Avis Lee, P.O. Box 86, Pillager.

No lunch served this month in the smaller room.

I've worked at the Brainerd Dispatch with various duties since Dec. 7, 1983. Starting off as an Ad Designer and currently Director of Audience Development. The Dispatch has been an interesting and challenging place to work. I'm fortunate to have made many friends, both co-workers and customers.
