Tim and Carla Volcke, longtime residents of Pine River, lost their home and all their belongings due to a fire in January. There will be a benefit for them on April 21 at the Pine River American Legion Post No. 613. A spaghetti dinner will be from 4-7 p.m. Cost: $8 adults; $5, children 12 and under. Silent auction will be from 4-8 p.m. DJ music throughout the evening will be provided by Bubba Lewies’ Entertainment.

WHS class of 1962
Washington High School Class of 1962 is holding an organizational meeting for its 50th class reunion and invites any interested classmates to attend. Meeting is at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Sawmill Inn. The Class of 1962 is trying to locate four classmates: Jeanette Hawkinson Wold, Curt Rossina, Dallas Miller and Christian Donnette Vierzba. Brainerd Legion upcoming events
The Brainerd Legion will have its Post Membership meeting at 7 p.m. Monday.
A baked chicken fundraiser dinner by the Auxiliary will be served from 5:30 p.m. until gone Thursday at the Legion. The dinner is to raise funds to send an additional Brainerd High School student to Girls State. Cost: $8.
Bethel Cemetery Association meeting
The Bethel Cemetery Association annual meeting will be 7 p.m. April 23 at the Bethel Lutheran Church. Coffee and finger food to follow.
DAV meets Thursday
The monthly meeting for DAV and DAVA Crow Wing County Chapter No. 22 will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the Brainerd VFW club. Chapter 22 officers meeting will begin at 6 p.m.
Abiders Ministry Training Thursday
Abider Volunteer Training will be offered from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Good Samaritan Society-Bethany in the Community Room.
Abiders Ministry is a group of volunteers trained by professional staff at Good Samaritan Society-Bethany or Woodland to serve dying residents when there are no family members or friends available to be present at the time of death. Volunteers often talk, read, pray or simply offer their presence for the resident.
Ray’s Promenader’s Square Dance Club will be having its annual meeting at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Franklin Arts Center. A dance will follow with Myron Hollatz calling Plus at 7:30 p.m. and Mainstream at 8 p.m.

Sons of Norway meeting
The Sagatun Lodge 018 Sons of Norway will meet at 7 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Brainerd. Bud Larsen and Carolyn Norquist will present an informative program on Scandinavian musical instruments including the hardanger fiddle, a traditional stringed instrument used originally to play the music of Norway. Festival of Nations bus trip scheduled for May 5
The bus for the Festival of Nations will leave the Westgate Mall parking lot at 8 a.m. May 5 and return around 11 p.m.
Festival of Nations is a multicultural festival including music, food, demonstrations, exhibits and dance. We have 11 seats open. Cost is $33 for members of the Lakes Area Senior Activity Center and $38 for non-members. Includes bus and entrance to the festival. Call 829-9345 to sign up. Deadline is Friday. VFW upcoming events

Senior dances will be 2-5 p.m. Wednesday at the Brainerd Eagles with music by the Chmielewski Band; and from 1-4 p.m. Friday at Deerwood with music by Rod Cerar.
LITTLE FALLS — The Little Falls Lions Club BBQ rib dinner will be from 4-7:30 p.m. April 21 at the Little Falls Country Club/Golf Course. Cost: $10. Proceeds from the dinner will go to the Key Club, MOLS and other projects.
The Brainerd Area Retired Educators will meet for a noon lunch Monday at the Park United Methodist Church in Brainerd. Speaker will be Sherri DeLaHunt presenting information on the Brainerd Public School Foundation.

There will be a consignment auction at 10 a.m. April 21 at the Pillager Fairgrounds to benefit the Cass County Fair.
Consignment items are wanted which include antiques, household, machinery, tools, lawn equipment, horse tack, jewelry, guns and miscellaneous. Consignments will be taken from Wednesday through 9 a.m. April 21.
