Jaimie Senger benefit planned
There will be a benefit for Jaimie Senger at 3 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Brainerd Legion, 708 Front St., Brainerd.
Senger, 15, is the daughter of Grant and Carolyn (White) Reller and granddaughter of Cal and Bev White. She was diagonosed with leukemia and will need weekly chemotherapy treatments for the next seven months and monthly chemo treatments for the following year.
There will be a silent auction from 3-7 p.m., a sloppy joe supper, $1 raffle every half hour, $5 raffle (need not be present to win) and entertainment by Jason Jones, One Shoe Productions.
Matching funds will be provided by Thrivent Financial, Inc.
Cash donations will be accepted in the name of Jaimie Senger at Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union, 406 W. Washington St., Brainerd.
Paul Bunyan Toastmaster Club’s Evaluation and Humorous Speech Contest
The Paul Bunyan Toastmaster Club’s Evaluation and Humorous Speech Contest will be noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the Sawmill Inn, 601 Washington St., Brainerd. Ray’s Promenaders will be sponsoring a square dance Friday at Baxter Elementary. Royce Nelson will be calling Plus at 7:30 p.m. and mainstream at 8 p.m. Winona and Richard Dosh will be hosting a harvest goodies buffet following the dance.
Annual rummage sale
The Center’s annual rummage sale will be 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 8 at 803 Kingwood St., Brainerd.
Items include toys and games, knick knacks, fruit jars, holiday items, kitchen items, books and puzzles, lines, sporting goods and men’s items, gold room with collectibles. Proceeds benefit The Center.
Senior dances will be 2-5 p.m. Wednesday at Brainerd Eagles with music by Gene Koski and Don Sauhr; and from 1-4 p.m. Friday at Deerwood with music by Andy and Stu.
Potlatch Retirees will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday for lunch and cards at the Lakes Area Senior Activity Center, Brainerd.
Daughters of the
Captain Robert Orr Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution meets the second Saturday each month February-November at 10 a.m. at the Sawmill Inn. Program and lunch follows meeting. For information call Jeanne, 829-2737 or Faye, 218-963-3955.
Widowed Friends will meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bonanza.
