Brainerd Garden Club
The Brainerd Garden Club will meet noon Friday at the Northland Arboretum for a Christmas potluck luncheon. Debby Floerchinger will present a program, “Build your own terrarium.” There will also be a gift exchange and installation of officers. Hostesses are all board members.
Gastric Bypass support group
to meet in December
STAPLES — The Gastric Bypass Support Group meeting for December will take place at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the family room at Lakewood Health System’s Care Center entrance. Anyone who has had gastric bypass surgery or anyone considering a gastric bypass or weight-loss surgery is welcome to attend.
Lakewood Health System’s gastric bypass support group offers a safe support system where members can share their successes, questions and experiences. Jena Doemel, Registered and Licensed Dietitian will be moderating the group.

PACT Health classes to
meet in December
STAPLES — Lakewood Health System will be offering free healthy living classes on Thursdays in December. This month’s class schedule and focuses are: Stress and Goals, 2 p.m. Thursday in the Patio conference room, on the lower level at Lakewood’s Main Campus; Nutrition and Healthy Eating, 5:30 p.m. Dec. 20, in the Patio conference room on the lower level of Lakewood’s Main Campus; Getting Active, 2 p.m. Dec. 27 in the Patio conference room on the lower level of Lakewood’s Main Campus.
These classes are part of a project called Pursuing Active Change Together (PACT). Through PACT, Lakewood Health System offers education, tips and resources to help promote healthy lifestyle choices and disease prevention.

Multiple Sclerosis Support Group to meet in December
STAPLES — The Multiple Sclerosis Mutual Help Group is held on the second Thursday of the month and will take place from 3:30-5 p.m. Thursday in the family room at the Lakewood Health System Senior Campus, 401 Prairie Avenue NE, Staples. Individuals and family members are invited to attend.
Multiple Sclerosis can be quite challenging at times, but through the support offered by Lakewood Health System’s Multiple Sclerosis Mutual Help Group, no one has to face these challenges on their own. The group is facilitated by Angela Anderson.

LF class of 1953
LITTLE FALLS — Little Falls High School Class of 1953 will be celebrating their 60th class reunion on July 27. The reunion will be held at the American Legion Club Rooms in Little Falls at 4 p.m. No invitations will be sent as no current addresses are available. Kids’ Christmas party Dec. 15
BACKUS — The annual Kids’ Christmas Party will be held 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Backus American Legion Club rooms, Highways 371 and 87 West.
Designed for children up to age 10, Santa will be there. A complimentary lunch will also be served, children will receive goodie bags and be involved in a special gift project. Accompanying adults are encouraged to bring their cameras.
The party is sponsored by the Backus American Legion Auxiliary with the help of donations from the Backus American Legion and Backus Lions.
Frankie Lamb Band returns
BACKUS — The Frankie Lamb Band returns to the Backus American Legion for its monthly dance from 2-6 p.m. Dec. 16, playing classic country and pop tunes, old time and swing.
A 4-H benefit dinner for prize premiums at the Cass County Fair will be served consisting of homemade beef stew dinner for $8 from 6 p.m. until gone.
Lake Hubert Community
Grange Christmas party
The Lake Hubert Community Grange Christmas party will be 5 p.m. Dec. 16 at the Grange. There will be a potluck supper. Bring mittens, caps, scarves which will be given to the children at Nisswa School. There will be a program with Santa Claus coming.
Take Highway 371 north 10 miles to Sportland Corners to County Road 13 east three miles to Sunset Valley Road and then 1/4 mile north on left side (old school house).
Brainerd Eagles Club breakfast
The Brainerd Eagles Club breakfast will be 8:30 a.m. to noon Sunday at 124 Front St., Brainerd, featuring the Eagles special for $6.
Brainerd Legion upcoming events
Past and Present Post No. 255 Color Guard Christmas party will begin with social hour at 5 p.m. Wednesday with a complete steak dinner at 6 p.m.
There will be an MDAA meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Liver and onions or beef and gravy by Katie and Mike will be served at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Cost: $7.
The Children’s Christmas party will be 1:30-3:30 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Legion, hosted by the Auxiliary.
Sons of Norway Yul Fest
The Sons of Norway Yul Fest will be Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Brainerd. A potluck will be 6 p.m. with the Christmas Yul Fest at 7 p.m. Put on your Scandinavian sweater or bunad, bring a dish to share and enjoy the holidays with your Sagatun friends.
Entertained by a reading by Doug Johnson and music performed by Carolyn Norquist, Lawrence Severt and Jim Lease.
They will present a combination of Scandinavian and American Christmas music, including a sing-a-long!
Polish sausage at the Elks
Brainerd Elks Lodge invites the public to a Polish sausage feed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Brainerd Elks Lodge, 215 S. Ninth St., Brainerd. All you can eat for $8.

VFW Post upcoming events

Ruby’s Pantry is a mission outreach where participants give a cash donation of $15 to cover expenses of the program and in return receive corporate surplus food. The variety and amount varies each month; however, the value of what is received generally averages over $50. Participants need to bring containers to carry their food home. No income guidelines. Ruby’s Pantry will be at the Brainerd Armory on Wright Street the second Tuesday of each month. The next distribution is Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with doors opening at 10 a.m.
