Ray’s Promenaders

Ray’s Promenaders will be hosting a square dance Friday at Baxter Elementary. Tom Allen will be calling Plus at 7:30 p.m. and Mainstream at 8 p.m. Judy Closson and Ed O’Neil will be hosting. The theme is denim night.

Germans from Russia

Heritage Group

The Brainerd Area Germans from Russia Heritage Group will hold a potluck meal from 1-3 p.m. Jan. 13 in the Sunshine Room at Lord of Life Lutheran Church. It has been rescheduled from the original date in December.

Members are to bring a German dish or favorite Christmas treat and any interested visitors. We will hear about a member’s recent visit to Russia. For more information, contact Nancy Redshaw, 825-3942.

Brainerd Legion

New Year’s Day party

The Brainerd Legion will have a New Year’s Day party from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday. There will be Tom and Jerry’s, a burger bar and raffles.

Brainerd Eagles Club breakfast

The Brainerd Eagles Club breakfast will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon Sunday at 124 Front Street, Brainerd, featuring the Eagles Special for $6.

Center Morning Club

The Center Morning Club meets each Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A speaker program is scheduled each week on various subjects of interest to the community. The club also participates in the “Books in a Bag” program sponsored by the public library. All members of the Center, men and women, are invited to become part of the group. Coffee and delicious Center-made donuts are provided.

The speaker programs scheduled for January are: Jan. 2, Kevin Stunek, Fire Chief; Jan. 9, Randy Klinger, YMCA; Jan. 16, Antje Olson, Personal Story; Jan. 23, Elsie Huson, Reading and Writing Programs in the county jail; and Jan. 30, Brainerd High School foreign students.

Senior dances

There will be senior dances from 2-5 p.m. Wednesday in Brainerd with music by the Chmielewskis; and from 1-4 p.m. Friday in Deerwood with music by Jerry B.

VFW Friday dinner

All you can eat country style ribs will be served from 5:30 p.m. until gone Friday at the VFW. Cost: $8.

I've worked at the Brainerd Dispatch with various duties since Dec. 7, 1983. Starting off as an Ad Designer and currently Director of Audience Development. The Dispatch has been an interesting and challenging place to work. I'm fortunate to have made many friends, both co-workers and customers.
