Hackensack Legion Valentine’s dinner

HACKENSACK — Hackensack Legion Post No. 202 will host a Valentine’s dinner Feb. 9. Three entree options are available offering steak, shrimp or steak and shrimp. Social hour is 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m.

Brainerd Legion upcoming events

The Post Executive Committee and the Auxiliary Membership meetings will be at 7 p.m. Monday.

Steak date night special by Katie Lutz will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Legion. Cost: $11 or 2 for $20.

There will be an Outdoors with Heroes fundraiser on Feb. 9. Beer and wine tasting will be 5 p.m. with food at 6 p.m.

BeeNayShe Council Bird Club

CROSBY — The BeeNayShe Council Bird Club will meet 7 p.m. Feb. 14 at the Jesse F. Hallett Memorial Library in Crosby.

The program will be given by Walt Ford, manager of Rice Lake National Wildlife Refuge, located in Aitkin County, five miles south of McGregor.

Established in 1935, the mission of Rice Lake NWR is to provide a refuge where migratory waterfowl and other birds and wildlife can breed, live and thrive, and the public can observe these species in their natural habitat. The Federal Migratory Bird Hunting Stamp Act, or Federal Duck Stamp, is important not only to waterfowl, but to all wildlife.

GSS-Bethany Auxiliary

GSS-Bethany Auxiliary will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Community Room, 804 Wright Street, Brainerd.

Brainerd Elks Lodge breakfast

Brainerd Elks Lodge No. 615 will serve breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at 215 South Ninth St., Brainerd. Order from the menu. All proceeds go to support Elks programs.

Brainerd Garden Club

The Brainerd Garden Club will meet 1 p.m. Friday at the Northland Arboretum. Midori Marcum will present a program on creating fairy gardens. Hostesses are Hope Johnston and Vi Anderson. Visitors are welcome.

Brainerd Lakes Area Early Childhood Coalition

The Brainerd Lakes Area Early Childhood Coalition in partnership with Essentia Health will be offering Boot Camp for New Dads from 6-8:30 p.m. Monday at Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd. Boot Camp for New Dads is a nationally licensed program, facilitated by men, which is designed to give expectant fathers a place to learn from experienced fathers. The Washington High School class of 1955 will meet for lunch at 11 a.m. Monday at the Brainerd Lakes Cafe.

GriefShare support group

GriefShare support group will begin a new series at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Lakewood Evangelical Free Church, 6284 Fairview Road, Baxter. GriefShare is a series of 13 sessions that will end April 30. Cost is $15. Scholarships are available. The DVD seminar features well-known authors and counselors who speak to those who are grieving the death of a loved one. A workbook is provided for further study. Sharing is on a voluntary basis and confidential. Grief is different for each individual and hits you when you least expect it. The most important pat of GriefShare is the hope it offers and helping move one from “mourning to joy.” You are welcome to attend any session. Center Morning Club

The Center Morning Club meets each Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A speaker program is scheduled each week on various subjects of interest to the community. The club also participates in the “Books in a Bag” program sponsored by the public library. All members of The Center, both men and women, are invited to become part of the group. Coffee and Center-made donuts are provided.
