HACKENSACK — Hackensack Legion Post 202 will host a Valentine’s dinner Feb. 14. Three entree options will be available: filet mignon or tempura shrimp with Asian glaze or surf and turf. The cost of the dinner is $17.95 per person with social hour at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m.

Ray’s Promenaders will dance to caller Roger McNeil at the Baxter Elementary school cafeteria on Friday. Plus will begin at 7:30 p.m. followed by mainstream at 8 p.m. Red is the suggested color for the
evening and a potluck lunch will follow the dance. All area dancers are welcome.

BACKUS — The Backus Legion Auxiliary’s first monthly Sunday breakfast of the year will be served from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 9. Cost: $6 for adults and $3 for children under 7. The breakfasts continue each second Sunday of the month through October.

■ The Big Event planned
The Big Event on Feb. 8 is in support of current and future students of the Brainerd Public Schools, through the Brainerd Public Schools Foundation. The Foundation supplements the school district in the 4As of Arts, Academics, Athletics and Activities. Miss Minnesota Rebecca Yeh, of Brainerd, and KSTP/St. Paul television anchor, Jessica Miles are featured guests. There will be a plated dinner, silent auction and live auction. Tickets are $50 each. The Washington High School class of 1955, spouses and friends will meet for lunch at 11 a.m. Monday at the Northwind Grille.
■ Center Morning Club
The Center Morning Club meets each Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A speaker program is scheduled each week on various subjects of interest to the community. The club also participates in the “Books in a Bag” program sponsored by the public library. All members of the Center, men and women, are invited to become part of the group. Coffee and doughnuts are provided.
