■ Tusenvann Sons of Norway Lodge No. 1-659

ISLE — Tusenvann Sons of Norway Lodge No. 1-659 in Isle, Minn., will meet noon March 8 at the I.R.E.C. building in Isle. Lunch and coffee will be served. ■ GSS-Bethany Auxiliary

GSS-Bethany Auxiliary will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday in Community Room, 804 Wright Street, Brainerd. Special guest: Mary Corrigan, Executive Director, Northland Arboretum. Gift Shop Committee meets at 9:30 a.m. Good Sam Bowling Steering Committee meets at 11 a.m.

■ Brainerd Elks Lodge breakfast

Brainerd Elks Lodge No. 615 will serve breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at 215 South Ninth St., Brainerd. Order from the menu. All proceeds go to support Elks programs.

■ Ray’s Promenaders

Ray’s Promenaders will dance Friday at the Baxter Elementary School cafeteria to caller Jim Jirak, with plus beginning at 7:30 p.m. followed with mainstream at 8 p.m. Celebrate with the Irish and wear your green in honor of St. Patrick’s day. Hosting the potluck that follows the dance will be Barb Swenson and Mike Schultz.

■ Garrison Seniors meeting

GARRISON — The Garrison Seniors will meet noon Tuesday at Light of the Cross Lutheran Church, 27170 Monroe St., two blocks west of the Super Valu, in the City of Garrison. Bring a potluck food item to share and plates, cups and silverware.

Nongame Wildlife Technician Kevin Woizeschke, from the DNR Division of Ecological Resources, will present the program and answer questions.

Recycling: The City of Garrison is now totally responsible for recycling and placed a container that will remain in place 24 hours a day. So those Garrison Senior volunteers will no longer be available to remove recycling items from vehicles.

■ Widowed Friends

Widowed Friends will meet 11 a.m. Monday at Bonanza.

■ PEO Chapter

PEO Chapter will meet 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Nedra Torfin’s home. Jenny Holden will be the co-hostess and Kathy Edmunds will give the program.

■ Captain Robert ORR NSDAR

The March meeting of Captain Robert Orr NSDAR will take place at 10 a.m. March 8 at Sawmill Inn downtown Brainerd.

■ VFW dinner

VFW Friday dinner will be deep fried shrimp or shrimp scampi serving from 5:30 p.m. until gone. Cost: $10.

■ Center Morning Club

The Center Morning Club meets each Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A speaker program is scheduled each week on various subjects of interest to the community. The club also participates in the “Books in a Bag” program sponsored by the public library. All members of the Center, both men and women, are invited to become part of the group. Coffee and Center-made donuts are provided.

The speaker programs for March: Wednesday, Sgt. Kronstedt, Water Patrol out of Sheriff’s Office; March 12, David Downing, Kinship Partners; March 19, Doris Stengel, Writing Life in a Few Words; and March 26, Foreign Exchange Students, one from Japan, one from Germany.

■ NARVRE to meet

NARVRE members will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Brainerd Public Library meeting room. All retired railroad workers are welcome to attend. Also widows and widowers of retired railroad employees are welcome.

■ Area senior dances

Senior dances will be from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday at the Brainerd Blue Room with music by Frank and Fran; and from 1-4 p.m. Friday at the Deerwood Legion with music by Dick and Jim.

■ WHS class of 1955

The Washington High School class of 1955, spouses and friends will meet for lunch at 11 a.m. Monday at the Northwind Grille.
