Let's Go Fishing Trip planned

First Lutheran Church, 424 S. Eighth St., Brainerd, will be having its first Let's Go Fishing Trip on June 29 for adult members.

Call the church office to be put on the list. In addition, individuals and families may potentially schedule a trip by calling 218-454-FISH (3474).

VBS at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church

BAXTER—This year's vacation Bible school at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 6311 Mildred Road, Baxter, will celebrate the 500th year anniversary of the Reformation along with Lutherans throughout the world.

The famous hymn of the Reformation, "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God," written by Martin Luther himself, supplies the name of this year's VBS: Mighty Fortress. One of the phrases of the hymn lends its truth to the theme: In Jesus, the victory is won.

Vacation Bible school will run from June 25-29. Kindergarten through seventh-grade students and staff will meet each evening at the church from 6-8 p.m. for singing, study, crafts and recreation.

Registration is open every evening of VBS.

VBS at South Long Lake Church planned

South Long Lake Church, 13152 Smart Road, Brainerd, will host SonRise National Park vacation Bible school from 6-8 p.m. June 26-30 for children ages 4-12.

Workshop on Adverse Childhood Experiences and Resiliency set

BAXTER—Tom Gonzalez will present a workshop on Adverse Childhood Experiences and Resiliency from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 23 at Pointway Church in Baxter.

ACEs are traumatic events in the life of a child (neglect, abuse, parental addiction, etc.) that cause toxic stress which potentially damages developing brains and causes emotional, mental and physical problems throughout the life. Unfortunately, ACEs are all too common. In the original ACEs study, 67 percent of the respondents reported at least one ACE in their life. Resiliency is what helps people bounce back from stress and trauma in their lives.

The Hawkinsons to perform

GARRISON—The Hawkinsons will perform 9 a.m. Sunday at Light of the Cross Lutheran Church in Garrison.

Sharing music of a country gospel style, they sing with a meaningful message and harmony. A freewill offering will be received to support the music ministry of the Hawkinsons.

Annual bazaar planned at St. Mathias

FORT RIPLEY—St. Mathias Church, 4529 County Road 121, Fort Ripley, will host its annual bazaar June 25 beginning with Mass at 10:30 a.m., followed by chicken and ham dinner with all the trimmings served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Cash bingo, country store, games for the whole family, raffles and live music all afternoon. Raffle at 4 p.m. with lots of prizes to be given away.

Garage sale set at Good Shepherd

Good Shepherd Free Lutheran Church, 5878 Pine Beach Road, Brainerd, will have its annual garage sale from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 22 and from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 23.

No early sales. Good used item from multiple families. All proceeds are going to various missions.

Vacation Bible school announced at Gloria Dei

PEQUOT LAKES—Vacation Bible school will be from 5-7:30 p.m. June 26-30 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 30609 Highway 371 S., Pequot Lakes.

VBS is free and registration is open to the public for children ages 4-12.

VBS is a victory celebration. In Mighty Fortress, the children will learn that in Jesus, the victory is won. They will look into the Bible, God's Holy Word and explore five Bible accounts about God, the Mighty Fortress, and the victory Jesus has won for people.
