The Warrior boys' track team hadn't won a state championship since 1938. That changed when Nate Pederson put the shot 58 feet, 6.5 inches to win the state Class AA title by more than five feet. Last year he finished second with a toss of 56-5.

A fire of unknown origins leveled the hangar at the Garrett Flying Field about 1 a.m. today. A car housed in the hangar was also destroyed. The Flying Field, owned by Bert Garrett, had not been used for aviation in some time. Recently it hosted car auctions.
