Senior Amy Broneak of Brainerd was named to the All-Section 8AA softball team. She led the Warriors in seven categories, including batting average (.451), hits (32), runs (20), doubles (3) triples (4) and home runs (2).

Brainerd citizens will get a chance to vote on plans for a new $1.7 million library after action taken by the Brainerd City Council. Approval of the referendum will put the matter on the Sept. 11 ballot. A new building would replace the 1904 Carnegie library.

Mrs. Marvin Bollig was elected president of the newly formed bridge section of the Brainerd Women's Golf Assn. on Thursday at the club house. Her slate of officers include Mrs. George Kinney, treasurer, and Mrs. Howard Hamilton, secretary.

Gala festivities will mark the formal opening of Breezy Point Lodge this weekend. There will be a big trapshoot, with 100 shooters expected from several states. 150 National Guardsmen and air corps pilots will stay there and march in Brainerd's American Legion parade.

Seth Phillips of Sylvan is in Brainerd today wearing his left hand in a sling. His disability is due to a bullet wound received in the Battle of Shiloh 52 years ago, and which has periods of bothering him at intervals of two or three years.
