As negotiations continue between the school district and Potlatch on a 330-acre parcel of land in Baxter for a possible school site, Crow Wing Township offered another possibility. The site, located in a proposed 65-acre industrial park, is just a half-mile from the proposed bypass.

It started as a bet seven years ago, but Henry Ordemann, 70, again will be attempting a marathon day of golf, this time a scramble format with partner Brett Dale. Ordemann's records are 135 holes while walking and 225 holes using a powered cart.

A city hitchhiker tried to tear the clothes off a girl who gave him a ride last night, according to Brainerd police. After she picked him up at the Brainerd Mall, he attacked her. When she pulled into a driveway in Northeast Brainerd, he fled on foot.

In front of a crowd of 200, Brainerd's Little League All-Stars swept a doubleheader from St. Cloud in a pair of well-played games at Bane Park. Chick Lyscio tossed a three-hitter in the first game, while Tom Dahl and Doug Moilanen combined for the second win.

Serious injury invaded the softball grounds last night for the first time this season. Clarence Grant, playing first base, suffered a broken collarbone when he tripped over the base while fielding a fly ball. He still managed to hold the ball for the out, then touched the base to record a second out.

August Swanson, county mining inspector, has released his annual report based on over 200 inspections. There were 2,099 at work in or around the mines, producing 1,130,000 tons from underground and 800,300 tons from open pit mines. There were ten fatalities for the year.
