(Photo) The kicking of Ben Hecker, a foreign student from Germany, has given the 8th-ranked Warriors another offensive dimension this year. To date he's converted 19 of 21 extra point attempts, made two of four field goal tries and averaged 55 yards on kickoffs.

30 years ago (1987)

Robert Haines never had much luck at winning prizes, except the ones in the bottom of cereal boxes. But now he's $1,000 richer after finding the Dispatch treasure hunt medallion stuck to a plow blade in the city garage parking lot. He teamed with mother, Virginia, for the prize.

40 years ago (1977)

(Adv.) Now playing at the Paramount Theatre it's "Ma and Pa Kettle at Waikiki," starring Percy Kilbride and Marjorie Main. At the Brainerd Theatre see Robby Benson in "One on One," and Patrick Wayne and Doug McClure in "The People That Time Forgot."

60 years ago (1957)

(Adv.) Just released from Warner Bros. to our screen, "Satellite in the Sky," the world's most closely guarded secret! This motion picture shows truly and authentically how Russia was able to put a satellite into orbit around the earth. Paramount Theatre.

80 years ago (1937)

After nearly fumbling the football away in the final quarter, undefeated Brainerd made a last valiant stand on its own 10-yard line with seconds to play to stave off a strong C-I threat and end the game a scoreless tie. Over 2,000 fans watched the classic battle.

100 years ago (1917)

Digging in the backyard of his home at 726 4th Ave. NE, Armour Thayer's shovel touched some sausage-like objects which, on further examination, turned out to be dynamite. Needless to say he stopped digging and informed police. How dynamite got there is a mystery.
