Association meeting

The MN Lyme Association Brainerd Lakes Chapter will be having monthly meetings at a new time and place. The summer meetings will be held at the Eagles Nest Church between Pequot Lakes and Breezy Point on County Road 11 across from the Eagleview Elementary School. The next meeting will be 6 p.m. Thursday featuring Gary Schill from Grand Forks, N.D., as the guest speaker. A question and answer period will follow his story. Women’s Club

DEERWOOD — On Monday, the Cuyuna Range Women’s Club will meet at Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood. Plan to arrive at noon for lunch. The Salem Ladies will be serving.

Alan Bohme, of Backus, will present “Hollywood Hi-Jinks,” in which he will delve into the deep, dark secrets of Hollywood, from the 1920s to the 1950s. Special music will be provided by C-I High School students in the vocal music department, under the direction of Mr. Wayne Ellingsen. A very brief business meeting will be held, primarily to announce the upcoming officers. Women’s Club members are reminded to bring a salad.

The Post Executive Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Monday. There will be a cribbage tournament at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

May 9 is Poppy Day. Volunteers from the Brainerd American Legion Auxiliary will be at many locations in the community offering poppies for donations which go to support our veterans.

PEO Chapter CJ will meet Tuesday at Cathy Gray’s home. Diane Scearcy is the co-hostess and Nancy Hall will give the program.

■ Mission Possible

ISLE — Tusenvann Sons of Norway Lodge No. 1-659 in Isle will meet May 16 for the annual banquet meeting at the Catholic Church in Waukon. WADENA — The Wadena Whirlaways are having a square dance Thursday at the Wadena VFW. Abe Maier is the caller and the theme is International Night. The evening starts with a potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m. followed by dancing from 7:30-10 p.m.

On Thursday, VFW Auxiliary members will go to Camp Ripley to serve lunch to the disabled veterans and their companion turkey hunters. The Auxiliary fish fry will be served from 5:30 p.m. until gone Friday. Cost: $8. Reservations are appreciated. The Auxiliary garage and bake sale will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 10.

■ Mother’s Day breakfast

BACKUS — The annual Backus American Legion Auxiliary Mother’s Day breakfast will be served May 11 at the Legion from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with mothers receiving a complimentary carnation. Cost: $6 for adults and $3 for children under 7. The clubrooms are located at Highways 371 and 87 West.
