Brainerd Legion upcoming events

On Sunday, Commander Ed will host a breakfast buffet from 8 a.m. to noon at the Legion. Cost: $7.50 for adults; $4 for kids.

The Last Man's Club Dinner will be Wednesday. Social hour is at 5:30 p.m. and dinner is at 6:30 p.m.

On Friday, there will be a rib eye steak dinner, served at 5:30 p.m. Cost is $11 or 2 for $20.

Brainerd High School class of 1959

The Brainerd High School Class of 1959 will have a get-together at noon Aug. 7 at Iven's on the Bay.

Lois Club luncheon

Ray's Promenaders square dance club will dance from 4:30-6 p.m. Aug. 2 at the Mill's Stage at the Crow Wing County Fair. Larry Johansen will be the caller and all area square dancers are invited to attend this event. Square dance attire is recommended.

Senior dances

Senior dances will be from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday at the Brainerd Fair with music by Marie and the Boys; and from 1-4 p.m. Friday at the Deerwood Legion with music by Frank Gust.

VFW Friday dinner event

The Brainerd VFW will serve appetizers beginning at 5 p.m. Friday.

NARVRE Unit No. 127

NARVRE Unit No. 127, Brainerd, has closed the local office.

Members whose dues are paid until the end of the year will continue received the newsletter telling of impending legislation and news concerning the railroads.

A letter will be sent from the national office telling members where to pay dues for the year 2015 to continue membership.

The outgoing officers thank the membership for their support the many years since NARVRE was chartered.

Holbrook reunion planned

BAXTER - The 18th annual Holbrook reunion will be Aug. 3 at Gene Holbrook's residence, 13099 Timberlane Dr., Baxter. All relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Coffee and rolls will be served at 10 a.m. with a worship service at 10:30 a.m. and a potluck dinner at noon.

Table service, coffee and cold drinks will be provided.
