Three sent to hospital after car, bus crash

STAPLES - Two Staples-Motley students and a rural Staples man were taken to Lakewood Health Systems in Staples where they were treated and released Monday after being involved in a vehicle and school bus crash, reported the Todd County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash was reported at 4:01 p.m. The school bus driver, Norma Knosalla-Elvine was traveling west on County Road 7 near Staples when the bus slid through the intersection, turning in front of a Chevy Cavalier driven by James Triepke, 31. Triepke’s vehicle was totaled and the school bus received extensive damage from the crash.

It was reported that the road and weather conditions were a factor in the crash.

The Staples Fire Department assisted at the scene.
