Pequot Lakes Winter Community Education classes available

PEQUOT LAKES — Winter classes and activities offered by Pequot Lakes Community Education will start in January. 

The classes offered will be on the Pequot Lakes school district website at  once you are the website click on the Community Education tab and then select the Classes option.  You can download the registration form and mail in your registration right now.  Mailing information is on the form.

Water aerobics, swimming lessons and several ECFE classes will start right away in January.  Be sure to get the information you need to sign up.  If you have questions call Pequot Lakes Community Education at (218) 568-9200.  Winter is a wonderful time to develop your learning, build physical skills or just join with friends for a lively discussion.

Pequot Lakes Youth Sports - Wrestling starts on January 3.

Pequot Lakes Youth Sports is sponsoring wrestling this winter for children in grades K through 6.  The wrestling program will strive to provide a positive and fun learning atmosphere.  The participants will be taught folk style wrestling skills.  Participants will be wrestling through a program developed under the sanctioning of the USA Wrestling program and the Northland Youth Wrestling Association.  Children will compete in their age/weight group at local and other levels of competition.

Registration is still open for the winter wrestling program.  The registration fee is $35.00.  A registration form can be obtained from the Pequot Lakes Youth Sports office, in the Community Education Family Center building at 4276 West Lake Street in Pequot Lakes.  Registration and schedule information is also posted on the school website.  To check this information out you will need to go to  next you will select Community Education, then select Youth Sports and then select Wrestling.  A completed registration form is required before a student can participate in the program.

“Daddy and Me” class starts on Tuesday, Jan. 4

The Pequot Lakes Early Childhood Family Education program is offering a very special class for Dads known as “Daddy and Me”.  The “Daddy and Me” class is for fathers or adult men who are involved in parenting activity to attend with a young child.  ECFE program are for families with children ages birth to 5 years old, who are not yet in Kindergarten.  Young children enjoy coming to school with their parent.  

“Daddy and Me” is an evening class from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.  The first class will be on Tuesday, January 4th.  The class meets for eight weeks, until Tuesday, February 22nd.  We know that children who spend time with their Dad do better socially and academically.  This class is a great way to spend time with your child and have lots of fun.  The registration fee is $35.00.  Call Pequot Lakes ECFE at (218) 568-9224 to sign up. Dads may bring more than one preschool aged child to the class. 

Infant to 12 months class

This class is for parents of children from birth to 12 months of age.  In the “Infant class” you will enjoy some special time with your baby listening to music, songs and rhymes.  The “Infant class” includes guest speakers, time for parents to visit and lots of information about your growing child.  Plan now to attend this four (4) week class.  The first class session is on Wednesday, January 5th.  The class meets from 9:30 am until 10:30 am in the ECFE Family Center building.  The registration fee for the class is $20.00.  Class will continue to meet through Wednesday, January 26th.
