Soldiers embark on deployment

Four Soldiers, from the Camp Ripley-based 107th Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment Detachment (107th TMDE), of the Minnesota Army National Guard will leave Minnesota for training on Wednesday for a one-year deployment to Iraq in support of Operation New Dawn.

Operation New Dawn is the drawdown phase of U.S. military operations in Iraq, and these Minnesota Soldiers will play an important role in ensuring military equipment is prepared to depart the theater of operations.

The deployment ceremony for these soldiers is 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the governor’s reception room at the state Capitol.
