Careers and jobs focus of two March events
Immediate jobs and a longer view of career planning will both be part of March events in the lakes area.
First up will be the annual Career Exploration Day. The event, planned from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. March 11 at Central Lakes College in Brainerd, is geared toward high school students. Expectations are for the involvement of 23 high schools and 2,500 students. Businesses, the Brainerd Lakes Chamber and CLC are behind the event, which last year included 2,000 students. The goal is to give students a chance to explore career options and talk to people in those jobs to get an idea what the work is really like. The event provides a look at various industries and the tools put to use there.
On March 23, at the Lakes Area Career Fair and Training Expo, the focus is on job opportunities. The event, from 9 a.m. to noon at CLC, looks at summer, part-time and full-time jobs.
Job seekers arrive ready to take part in job interviews, submit resumes and complete applications at the career fair.
