Two firefighters complete training course in Alabama

Brainerd firefighters Mark Turner and Cory Zeien recently completed training offered by the Center for Domestic Preparedness in Anniston, Ala.

The Center for Domestic Preparedness offers more than 50 courses focusing on incident management, mass casualty response and emergency response to a catastrophic natural disaster or terrorist act. Training is federally funded at no cost to state, local or tribal agencies. 

Resident training also includes health care and public health courses; and exercises in true toxic environments. 

Food Share announces outcome

The Salvation Army March Food Share raised 66,395 pounds/dollars for the food shelf. The goal was 60,000 pounds/dollars.

Rural Motley 5-year-old to compete in pageant

Ariana Badger, 5, the daughter of Tom Badger and Ashlee Badger of Browerville, has been selected to represent Minnesota at the 2011 Miss American Princess Pageant. 

The North Start State Princess will attend the national pageant for her age group in Florida during the week of Thanksgiving in 2011 and compete for the title of Miss American Princess and cash awards, prizes and scholarships.
