Those bringing in medications may dispose of them in their original containers but are encouraged to remove any identifying information from the prescription label.

Intravenous solutions, injectables and syringes will not be accepted due to potential hazards posed by blood-borne pathogens. No sharps will be accepted. Illicit substances such as marijuana or methamphetamine are not a part of this initiative and should not be placed in collection containers.

The effort is part of national TAKE-BACK DAY by the Drug Enforcement Administration, a unified effort by law enforcement agencies to create an opportunity for the public to surrender expired, unwanted or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications for destruction.
