Several drivers had called authorities to complain that the motorcyclist was speeding, driving aggressively and passing on the shoulder.

A state trooper tried to pull over the motorcycle, but it sped off. Moments later the trooper found the wreckage of the motorcycle in a grove of trees near a curve.

Thirty-year-old Robert Dennis Davis of Madison Lake was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. He later died.

Davis was not wearing a helmet.
