Boaters rescued on Milford Lake

A man and his adult daughter, out boating on Milford Lake, were rescued Thursday afternoon by Crosby firefighters.

Crosby Fire Chief Alan Woods said a series of mishaps resulted in the boaters calling 911 for help. Their boat motor died, then the oar broke and the boat became stuck in a bog area that made it impossible for them to get out.

Woods said Crosby firefighters had to use an inflatable rescue boat in the bog to get to the boaters and free their boat. No one was injured.

Firefighters were called to the scene at 1:33 p.m. Thursday.
