Garden of Leaders community garden block party planned

ISD No. 181, Brainerd Community Education, KinderClub, Fun ‘N’ Friends, Sr. Leaders and the Farm of Plenty — the Garden of Leaders Community Garden — will host a block party from 1-4 p.m. July 30 at the Washington Educational Services building (west side).

This is a chance to visit with the experts on family and individual gardening. Whether you plan to have a “patio” garden or a “large” garden, we are here to help.

Al Jabs from the Farm of Plenty will share gardening information. Local chef demonstrations will be by Matt Annand, Executive Chef of Prairie Bay Grill in Baxter. There will be children’s garden arts and crafts. Crow Wing County Master Gardeners and Crow Wing County Extension will be providing information and project ideas. There will be face painting, bees, butterflies and bugs as well as speakers and demonstrations.

The first 100 participants will receive a starter garden (one per family) to take home with them.

As a fundraiser to help support the Garden of Leaders and continuing education of our youth, they will be selling reusable canvas bags and T-shirts.
