Body of missing man found in Morrison County

BUCKMAN — The body of a missing 37-year-old Zimmerman man was found Wednesday in a swampy area southwest of Buckman in Morrison County.

The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office reported Friday that around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday officials received a call that two men had found a body in a swampy area near Buckman. Responding deputies found a white Chevrolet truck hidden nearby which was registered to Kristofer Shannon, 37, Zimmerman.

Shannon has been reported as a missing person in Sherburne County on July 20.

Deputies were then shown where the men had found the body. They noted the body to be in advanced stages of decomposition. A rifle was present at the scene and also a wallet containing Shannon’s identification.

Sheriff Michel Wetzel said the body was transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy confirmed Shannon’s identity and determined the cause of death to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
