Legislators to tour region for look at forest industry


House and Senate legislators will tour forest industry businesses and community groups in northern Minnesota on Friday. The legislators will discuss solutions and listen to ideas to encourage the growth and expansion of Minnesota’s forest industry.


The legislators will begin in Hackensack and travel to Park Rapids, Cass Lake, Bemidji and Solway. 

They will begin at 8:30 a.m. Friday at Deep Portage Conservation Reserve, 2197 Nature Center Drive NW, Hackensack; at 10:15 a.m. to tour Dean and Bob Walsh Logging, 705 King Street, Park Rapids; 11 a.m. Joint Area Forestry Affairs Council meeting Norway Beach Pavilion, U.S. Forest Dept., 15830 Norway Beach Road NW, Cass Lake; 1:30 p.m. Potlatch Woodlands, Bemidji; 2:30 p.m. to tour Pine Products, 50774 County Road 45, Bemidji; and 3:30 p.m. to tour Norbord, Inc., 4409 Northwood Road NW, Solway.
