Tribute to the Troops to stop in Deerwood
DEERWOOD — The nonprofit Tribute to the Troops will honor eight Minnesota families for its eighth annual Memorial Motorcycle Ride this weekend and will stop in Deerwood.
The ride is scheduled Friday through Sunday. A concert featuring Rockie Lynne will follow the three-day ride at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Medina Entertainment Center.
This year’s ride procession will visit eight different Minnesota communities (Bird Island, Owatonna, Pine City, Princeton, Andover, Hancock, Rice and Deerwood) to honor the commitment and sacrifice of fallen heroes who were killed or died during their service to their country.
The families of Minnesota’s Fallen will be presented items commemorating their loss, recognizing their loved one’s distinguished service.
The ride begins at the state Capitol. Tribute To The Troops established the Fallen Hero’s Children’s Education Fund to provide financial assistance to the surviving children of our nation’s fallen heroes and will be used to defray the costs of post-secondary education costs. Since the inception of the Fund, Tribute To The Troops has contributed more than $130,000 directly to the benefit of the surviving children.
