Unoccupied Pine River house damaged by fire

PINE RIVER — An unoccupied Pine River home was damaged by fire Thursday, Pine River Fire Chief Mike Hansen said.

Pine River firefighters were called to the fire at 2:50 p.m. in the 500 block of Second Street North.

Hansen said the fire appeared to start in the basement but the cause of the fire wasn’t yet known. No injuries were reported.

There was heavy smoke damage to the home, Hansen said, and a fair amount of flame damage. The flame crept up through the walls, Hansen said, making the fire difficult to fight.
