Optimist Club chartered in the lakes area
The Lakes Area Optimist Club was officially chartered with 22 members recently.
This club is an affiliate of the Dakotas, Manitoba, Minnesota District and Optimist International. The Lakes Area Optimist Club was sponsored by the St. Cloud Morning Optimist Club and the Central Minnesota Noon Optimist Club. Charter members of the Lakes Area Optimist Club are from Brainerd, Baxter, Staples, Ironton, Little Falls, LaPorte, East Gull Lake, and Pillager.
Lakes Area Optimist Cub officers are: Dave Saatoff, president; Holly Willert, vice president; and Brenda Woitalla, secretary/treasurer. Dave Fournier and Clay Parkin were elected as board members.
Optimist Clubs are dedicated to the promotion of optimism as a philosophy of life and to providing service to youths and to their communities.

The Lakes Area Optimist club will meet each Tuesday at the Sawmill Inn in Brainerd. On the first and third Tuesdays, the club meetings will be at noon. On other Tuesdays, club meetings will be at 7:15 p.m.
President Saatoff said he was excited that club members were able to bring back an Optimist Club to the Brainerd lakes area. He said the club is looking forward to serving our area youth and our communities.
