Nisswa residents attend final levy meeting
NISSWA – Nearly 25 Nisswa residents, including a few Brainerd School District staff, turned out Tuesday night at Nisswa School for the third and final district levy informational meeting.
Superintendent Steve Razidlo, with support from Steve Lund, director of business services and Judy Jenson, Brainerd Community Education director, led a presentation about the upcoming levy vote.
Voters will head to the polls Tuesday and will be asked whether to support or not two levy questions. The first question asks for renewal of a $199.24 per pupil levy, a 10-year levy. The second question asks for an additional $200 per pupil, a five-year levy. The first question must pass in order for the second question to pass.
A few residents said they planned to vote in favor of the levy questions, while at least one person said he would be voting against it. Questions ranged from the school district budget to the recent teacher contract settlement and what will happen if the levy questions fail.
The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday for Brainerd School District voters. To find your polling site or learn more about the upcoming levy vote, visit the district’s website, www.isd181.org , and click on the large blue starburst about the levy.
